Can't be too great if Nice have had the option to buy and they haven't taken it.

Might not be able to afford it. Especially finishing outside of European competition for next season.

Hasn't he got another year on loan there first? The option to buy for 18m euros can be taken at the end of his 2 year loan deal.

He has, but Barca can recall.

Without wanting to sound all brexit, I think I prefer centre backs to be British or at least seasoned premier league defenders (like Huth) I know it probably sounds ridiculous but there are many examples of foreign defenders struggling in this league (yes I know British defenders can be shit too) and would rather not take the risk, especially at a big fee.

Glik is cheaper than Maguire mate

... So?

He's got to actually be willing to come here. He's currently playing Champions League football in a beautiful tax haven on the riviera.

Why the **** is he going to up sticks to play for a mid table team in the east Midlands?

West Ham in ‘pole position’ to sign Leicester target, club waiting for ‘formal offer’
By Naveen Ullal -  25th May 2018

Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa, simply known as Marlon, initially joined Barcelona B on loan from Fluminense in summer of 2016. The same year, he made his debut for the Spanish champions’ first team, when Luis Enrique was in charge at the Camp Nou.

The 22-year-old joined Barcelona on a permanent deal last summer and after the club’s pre-season tour, Ernesto Valverde decided not to include the centre-back in his plans for the 2017/18 season.

Barcelona allowed Marlon to join OGC Nice on a two-year deal and an option to sign him on a permanent transfer in 2019. According to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian’s form for the Ligue 1 outfit has seen him attract interest from several clubs from the Premier League, including West Ham and Leicester City.

West Ham have already contacted Barcelona and Nice to express their desire in signing the defender. Reports from England suggested that Leicester City are also looking at the option of signing the player, probably given Claude Puel’s Nice connection.

But Puel left Nice before Marlon arrived, which would put an odd angle on it.

Mundo Deportivo reports West Ham are in the pole position in signing Marlon. Barcelona are now waiting to receive a “formal offer” from Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

I don't believe we're interested in him FWIW, my guess is Evans is our No1 target and we're not going to spend big money on a reserve which is what this lad would be.

He's not had great reviews this season either so would be an odd one. West Ham are welcome to him.

Probably started via some journalist who was either too shit or too lazy to properly do their homework.

Player from/played for Nice = Claude Puel = Leicester City appears to be the latest media brainwave.

He got exposed being a BNP voter through Wikileaks. Hard to argue with that.
