Cheap left footed centre back who’s been excellent the past few seasons and ticks a lot of boxes- why am I feeling slightly disappointed with this one?

I hope not. Imagine relying on Silva and the full backs for creativity.

& Iheanacho

Whats the alternative?  Buy some young wingers like Maddison and Roberts and put all the pressure on them and Diabate/Gray to create like we did with Mahrez?  Way to destroy some young players confidence.

We've gotta play a different way to the way we have last few seasons.

If we were going for a relegated defender I'd have preferred Mawson. Don't much fancy Evans, seems a bell based on the taxi incident and West Bromwich did much better once he was dropped.

Mawson probably won't cost 3m tbf.

I haven't seen much evidence of Puel favouring three centre halves apart from the odd occasion when we're losing.

I expect us to play Vardy up front, three creative players behind him who have goals and assists in their game with two holding midfielders and attacking width from the full backs.

They did better when Pardew was booted out.

Fantastic signing.

He'll look great sitting on the bench whilst Morgan inexplicably plays week-in, week-out.

Transfer window's open for another two months and we've already signed two new players.

Some of our more established players will leave also, and we haven't concluded business yet. Far from it.

As for our style of play, Puel won't discard a back four. We now have mobile centre-backs who are good with the ball on their feet and aim at letting the full-backs bomb forward, especially in the case of Pereira. Could do with another wing-back on the left (Roussillon, for example).

My guess is we'll aim for getting another left midfielder in to put more pressure on Gray (who needs to work on his decision-making and could maybe use a loan spell somewhere else) and a right midfielder to cope with the inevitable loss of Mahrez - should he leave this summer.

He won't, no. But, Evans has got what, maybe three years left in him, get Mawson instead, more expensive initially but between him and Maguire you've got a good young duo that'll do you 10+ years if you manage to keep them.

Just watched his interview. Our media team are awful. Some of the questions they were asking were absolutely painful. A seasoned pro like Jonny Evans having to answer whether he's going to be watching Love Island.

Thought the exact same, turned it off about about 2 minutes lol

Can't grumble with that one, still want another CB unless the club are convinced one of the kids will make it. As one injury and you're back with Wes or Benny playing all the time.

"He went on to feature for the Red Devils 196 times in all competitions, winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup and four Community Shields during a trophy-laden career in Manchester."

I'd forgotten/didn't realise he was so integral to United's success during that time.  Great experience to add to the team.

Yeah i'm sure we will sign more players It was just in responding to the relying on full backs & Silva for creativity.  I don't think relying on Silva, Chillwell, Pereira & Iheanacho is worse then relying on Chillwell, Pereira, Gray & Diabate.

I think 4 at the back is how we will line up at the start of the season its just a great to have different formations up our sleeve.

Sick of hearing this.  Personally I think it shows a bit of character.  Christ who hasn't done some dumb things in their 20s.  It's easy to judge footballers but if it was a mate then you'd agree it was a but dumb but cut them some slack, move on and not judge them for years afterwards. I haven't heard he makes a habit of it so, all in all he will be a wiser, balanced man because of his experience.  Now is a time to celebrate.

Maguire Morgan Evans

Pereira Iborra N'Didi Silva Chilwell

Vardy Iheanacho

Wouldn't be surprised if that's how we line up for the most next season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it were

Simpson Evans Maguire at the back - can DANNY play in a 3?

Simmo and Fuchs could play as CB's in a back three. Fuchs has done it a number of times for us already, and has even played CB as part of a back four.

I really liked Dragovic, but the 3-7M we paid for Evans (if you take into account the rumoured agent fee) is quite a saving on 18M for Drago.

Perhaps Puel will keep the CBs we have now and promote some of the youngsters next season?

An eight-minute interview with the interviewee mostly repeating himself.

At least they could've spiced it up with some more action-packed B-roll (archive footage, juggling with the ball, aso aso).

A four-minute version would've been much more appropriate - I think Evans got bored himself with time, struggling to answer professionally. :D

I would be be surprised... we could have played 3 at the back last season easily enough and I think we only did it once.

your all in for an absolute shock when we line up with Simpson-Morgan-Maguire-Chilwell in the first league game next season.

Should be a good signing at least he has premiership experience which can't be a bad thing. All these going on about the taxi incident would do well to remember Vardy and the incident in the casino soon got forgotten about as I know doubt the taxi incident will be

This could be a really good lineup. Not sure about Morgan though.

I’m absolutely sure about Morgan that he needs to leave the club!
