To think that the club that won the Premier League then went to go on and sign Ahmed Musa is just bewildering. What on earth was going on that summer?

Fans expected too much.

Players got too big headed.

At least thats what the media have said.

Prior to today 25% of Nigeria's games at a World Cup have ended in defeat to Argentina, can't see that changing this year...

Played at 5 world cups before now (94, 98, 02, 10, 14) - 3 group stages each, plus round of 16 in 94. 16 games played at a world cup before tonight. Lost 2-1 to Argies group stage 94, 1-0 to them in 2002, 1-0 to them in 2010 and 3-2 to them in 2014. 4 defeats to Argentina in 16 world cup games.

Only haven't been in the same group as Argentina once in 1998

I predict the percentage will change

It should also be remembered how pissed off many were that we hadn’t signed him in the January window

All those people who have spent money on the new Nigeria shirt lol if I had one I'd be too embarrassed to wear it.

Can't believe how crap Nigeria were. They have decent players that play at a high standard. they were hopeless, Croatia weren't great.

Nigeria '94 and even '98, Senegal 2002 were decent too. Cote d'Ivoire have been terribly unlucky with the draw twice and were millimeters away from progressing last time. It's fine margins, but I will concede that the development of Subsaharan teams has been disappointing since the promise of the 90s

Indeed

The argument has always been that the more top level games and tournaments the developing countries play in, the better they’ll become, is actually bollox.

The African nations have gone backwards football wise, no doubt.

That was a waste of 90 minutes.

What was with the defender giving away the peno, shocking defending.

They have decent players that play in decent leagues around Europe, there's no reason why these can't do better

I think it's more a case of other nations catching up and the organization/structure of African team being... well 'African'.

It says a lot that Nigeria lost their only qualifier as a result of fielding an ineligible player. In 2018, that is an unforgivable gaffe.

Those Nigerian kits are like the clips homer used to hold his saggy skin together after liposuction in order to look more attractive to marg

Love Ally Mcoist co commentating destined to be the great Alan Brazil’s replacement when he hangs up his head phones on Talk Sport.Great sense of humour and he knows his stuff.

Alan Brazil is 59 …. hardly on is last booze fuelled comments.

The other Jock is  55 … hardly a young pretender.

Yeah i agree, i thought the huddle before half time was telling too. Clearly there has been a bust up with the managment and the players wanted to do their own half time team talk without the gaffer.

Alan Brazil is a heart attack waiting to happen, young Ali will get his chance soon.

Ps i agree with the other fella Mcoist is a brilliant co-commentator. Knowlege, articulate and very funny at times. Alan Brazil is a bellend though.
