James Maddison Confirmed

It's because he backs out of challenges. He's done it all season. I'm not saying go around like a thug but you can't afford to lose the ball like he does in midfield all the time.

He is soft in 50 50's I don't dispute that. He isn't completely scared of contact though, he draws plenty of fouls with his style

To imply he is more interested in social media than being a professional footballer I can't abide by.

Without doubt and I don't care what anybody else says Maddison cost Leicester City the game today and 3 valuable points. Had he been successful Cardiff would have been dead and buried. It is unbelievable after the last 2 results that we could play so poorly against a lower placed inferior side. Too good to get relegated but not good enough to break into the top 6 I'm afraid.

Will never understand comments like this. Just a nothing throwaway line used to criticise a player.

"Too busy bothering about Instagram"? So you're saying whilst on the pitch, Maddison is thinking about what he is doing on social media? Would you say the same about Chilwell?

I actually think Maddison can be too unselfish at times. Many times he has been 25 yards out with a shot on but he looks to slide someone in rather than "going for the spectacular"

Fine to criticise players, but stuff like that is just utter nonsense. Just a thinly veiled way of attacking a players character.

What’s so hard to understand? Why does every pass have to be outside of the boot? Why does he try a flick on the halfway line with no one around him? Why did he try a ball over the top to Iheanacho instead of the simple ball out wide? The lad has all the talent in the world and if he applied himself in the right way, he could be exactly what he wants to be (sadly, what he thinks he already is)

He was very good first half, started the 2nd well and bar the penalty it was a toss up between him and Ricardo as our best player. My annoyance with him from October and November has gone. Big fan now.

Flashes of brilliance but mainly on the periphery for me. I thought Gunnarson won their battle and he wasn’t close to being our MOTM for me.

I disagree that he tries to be unnecessarily elaborate too often. Most of the time he keeps it simple enough imo. The Iheanacho ball was part of a frantic period trying to force the pace and create something.

He is a young player that will make mistakes. A young player in a position charged with a hell of a lot of responsibility as pretty much our only "creative" player. His contribution thus far has been perfectly adequate.

I do however think he is nowhere near as good yet as the media portray him.

I know some here have him down as arrogant or that he has a big ego. The social media comment struck me as a cheap shot at his character.

You seriously thought we could break into the top 6?

Maybe if we'd spent a couple hundred million in a few places. Top 6 is a place money is chucked by the 50/60 million per player.

3 very different games, 2 where we've been able to absorb and counter, 1 where 8 giants have sat there and booted the ball down field.

He’s made a great contribution and has bags of talent. I’ll never dispute that. He’s been over rated by many which has in my mind gone to his head. Why does he need to do a “no look” penalty? I firmly believe it’s for show because 1) after an embarrassing defeat to Bournemouth, that was straight on Instagram and  2) apart from against Bournemouth it’s failed (unsure if he tried it today but did against Man City) the lad also signs off pretty much everything with “JM10” which doesn’t sit well with me because he’s certainly no CR7. I just honestly think he needs to focus on his game much more than he is doing.

imo Maddison was better in the first games of the season. Since being nominated by Southgate for England's squad, he believes he is the young David Beckham and struts like a peacock across the pitch. He should have played in training against Robert Huth, then he would know how to play in the Premier League....namely with physical exertion. Maybe he'll still learn that.

Knew it wouldn’t be long, young professional footballer with a strong social media presence has a bad game “well it’s because he spends all that time on that bloody internet thing! At his age I was re-pointing the garage and tarring the drive inbetween training. Doesn’t know he’s bloody born, he should be chasing after milk floats and reading books on Dennis Law” harps the technophobe from the older generations. It’s complete bollocks, he’s a young lad who’s probably sacrificed a ‘normal’ life to be where he is now, with social media by way of instagram and Twitter being a normal part of his and every other 20 somethings life, and something that he hasn’t had to give up (you know like smoking, drinking, playing football with our friends, socialising, being able to go about our lives without being in the spotlight). Him having a bad day at the office, has and never ****ing will have anything to do with Instagram!

one of them moments when you just knew he wasn't gonna score. i don't rate kelechi but i think he should've taken that instead.

I think Maguire or Pereira would have put their foot right through it. No more stuttered run ups and no more mamby pamby penalties please. The aim is to score, not try and show everyone how good you think you are.

You only have to look at where we are and analyise the points we've dropped and 6th place would not have been out of our reach. I'm just amazed that some folk think that because we're not spending millions we have to settle for less. Look at the millions we have spent and what they have produced, Silva, Slimani, Musa to name but 3. How dare I think we could be more successful?
