James Maddison Confirmed

Recommended Posts

I don’t think there’s any questioning his potential, but because of the way he conducts himself in the public eye it is easy for fans to assume he’s a spice boy who won’t put in the necessary effort to reach the very top.

Bottom line is, he massively rates himself and I think that’ll drive him on to the very top. He needs to get stronger and more ruthless but that needs to be worked on from our management, they will be trying to improve that. Chilwell has done it and even Barnes looks much stronger than a year ago so it’s around this age that it happens anyway.

My only real gripe right now is his set pieces, they are poor for a supposed set piece specialist and don’t even get me started on his penalties. This is something that it isn’t really about what level you’re playing at either, but his delivery has really nose dived and I wonder why? Hopefully he sticks one in soon enough and it kicks him on, there’s no questioning the ability is there in abundance.

Barnes has always been a bit of a unit tbf. Even when he made his debut couple years ago he looked quite solid for his age.

Couple times on Saturday he shrugged off defenders quite comfortably. Not sure you'll ever get that from Maddison, some people are just small.

It's not necessarily a problem, he's also got great agility and acceleration which is part of the same physique.

Just don't think he'll ever really bulk up much.

I think he’s doing fine. Could he be doing better? Of course but you could say that about most of the squad. Seeing people use what he does away from football against him is just so so strange, 22 year old uses Instagram. Shock horror.

Yeah maybe, I just think Barnes in a year has learnt how to predict challenges and ride them, Maddison seems hesitant to meet a 50/50. What he is very good at though is moving the ball on just at the time of impact to win free kicks, it might lead to an injury though as this is what Wilshere used to do and would often crock him.

Mahrez was a right skinny urchin but he was fearless at being leathered by opposition and at times he was surprisingly strong. Maddison doesn't necessarily need to be a unit but a bit more physical.

As was said earlier... footballers are humans and any number of things can affect their form...

Football and current player /team form aside, there is something wrong with the world when you read about someone going into a hospice for end of life care and they are under 80.

Unimaginable when they are when they are just a young child :( #perspective #superstrongsophie

I am so so sorry. Thoughts are with her and her family. I hope she's comfortable. She seemed in good spirits from Maddison's video bless her.

That's so sad to hear that she's died :(

It really wouldn't surprise me if he didn't play tomorrow. Totally don't mind that decision if that's the one he makes.

IF he does play, I hope he has a good game and plays his heart out for Sophie. And I hope fans don't get on his back tomorrow with the knowledge that he's suffered such a loss. Times like this we have to be fully behind the player!

No chance we sell unless we get a ridiculous offer (atleast 55m+) spurs aren’t going to spend that kind of money, anything they make from Eriksen leaving will go into the stadium debt and they’ll replace with someone 25m or less or just promote someone from their academy

To be honest I wouldn't be devastated if we sold him for a profit. Of course he's good, but he's not reached the level of irreplaceable yet, with the likes of Mahrez and Kante being examples of those.

I can't see his value dropping, only increasing. So I don't think there is any point in taking quick profit, you invest in this sort of player to make big profits. Selling him now is only likely to lead to Spurs making the lions share of profit on his growth.
