Reminds me of when we signed Benalouane, luckily we signed Kante on the same day so I can deal with it if we've got similar lined up. 1
EnderbyFox Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 £4m was just about bearable but the fact we are spending £14m for a guy with those stats just screams of desperation   Potentially almost 30 million spent on a backup keeper and a winger that’s had half a good season in his career, wonderfulÂ
ajthefox Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 Let's hope he proves his critics wrong cause there's an awful lot of them..

Both players were unwanted reserves at their clubs with no other takers. 4

His decision-making especially is some of the worst around. He had 6 months in Lyon where he was good and still lives off that hype/potential even though he has been awful ever since."  Hope it's one of those signings that come off. But we dont really need another winger with bad decision making.  honestly sounds like they are describing Gray.

Benalouane's were pretty bad, no one could believe we were paying that much for him.  I'm not saying supporters opinions of a player should be gospel but in my experience it's a huge red flag. I think our club is in a position that we don't need to take risks on players with red flags against them.  There was no need to buy Benalouane, Ward or Ghezzal as we can afford to minimise the risk for most of our signings. If this is a Puel signing against the wishes of the scouting team then his job should be on the line if he bombs and we spend the next few years trying to get rid of him while he clogs up the wage bill. TomTom8 Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 Ghezzal isn't a bad player he's just not very consistent. A change of scenery could do wonders for him. Who knows? IF you tell me that we are going to sign one more player plus Ghezzal to bolster the squad......well i think we'd all be happy with that.
srex9 Posted 3 August 2018 Posted 3 August 2018 As a club we do have a history of turning unwanted players into very good, confident players. Let's give him and the people at the club a chance, they must see something we can utilise. 1
Demoox Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 (edited) Algerian here. He's bad yes, but not THAT bad. All the negative comments around him is a mix between real statements and PURE HATE. At Lyon/Monaco he was the lad that all the good things he can do in a game could be ignored for 1 bad touch/pass etc.  But yeah, could be the least algerian player i rate, not even 1/10 of Mahrez's talent. Can be described as a " clumsy skillful player ". However he has an amazing shooting quality/long range passes. Super sub at best, but possibly a starter... he's a very weird footballer to say, clearly not good enough but some days my god can't recognize him haha. Edited 4 August 2018 by Demoox 1

I don't see many others clubs banging down Monaco's door to get their unwanted player. 1
wattolcfc Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 This signing could be writing Puels Leicester City obituary if he turns out to be turd and we haven’t won a game going into the International break.

We better have another signing planned.
mikey54 Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 Is there a reliable link to this? ...or have I missed it? Â
StriderHiryu Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 Panic signing that is completely underwhelming. It wouldn't surprise me if we've partly got him to keep our fan base in Algeria strong now that we've lost Mahrez (and probably Slimani) because on sheer reputation no one is reccommending this purchase. Â Fans of both Lyon and Monaco absolutely tearing into him, the complete opposite of Ricardo and Maddison. Not a good sign. Â Will give him a chance obviously but it just feels like we've sold one turkey in Musa and then immediately signed another one. Â Opportunity missed. 1
Bunyip Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 If this is now the best we can do then we are in deep deep trouble.
USFox Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 If the goal here is to sign an Algerian player for the fan base, then it would be better to look at Sofiane Hanni or Yacine Brahimi.Â
UPinCarolina Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 I’ll wait until there’s more substance to this. Right now we’re basing it on...what? Some French rags?
Biggles22 Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 The speed of this transaction alone suggests we should be concerned at the very least. Alarm bells are ringing as it conflicts with current philosophy. Why take the unnecessary risk when every penny spent is now being heavily scrutinized and is predicated upon considered bookkeeping. Perhaps Puel knows something others do not? Anything to do with Plancque leaving yesterday?
brucey Posted 4 August 2018 Posted 4 August 2018 Fingers crossed hoping against hope that this is fake news. I'd rather have kept Musa 2
