They are a really good outfit, their class definitely shines through. As a result I think that makes our performance in that half very promising indeed. Lots of good interplay between various players, with Maddison definitely standing out. Get down to the bookies and put a tenner on him getting an England cap this season because he looks that good.

 

I also think it's important to realise that relationships between players take time, and combinations like Ricardo / Albrighton, Maddison / Nacho and Chilwell / Diabate aren't going to blossom overnight. Already it's encouraging to see Ricardo overlap Albrighton to give us a new dimension of attack down our right wing.

 

The funny thing is the negatives from that half are all things we know about. Chilwell making the wrong decision / getting caught our of position. Diabate having good touch but poor awareness. Ndidi winning the ball back magnificently but then giving it back straight away with a terrible long pass. Benny being Benny Hill at the back. Kasper kicking it straight out of play. Iborra taking too long on the ball, etc. If we could cut those mistakes out of our game then we'd really improve. Well perhaps this is the reason why these players play for us instead of at the very top teams.

 

Currently I think we look like a decent mid table outfit and if we play like that regularly shouldn't be in any relegation trouble. I think the nice thing is that with so many young players, it's a team that will grow and get better together which is very encouraging. Maddison and Nacho could be our front line for years to come, assuming they don't get sold when big offers come in.

They're told to do that though same with England. Unfortunately he isn't quite good enough.

Puel needs to put an arm around Chilwell, he could be twice the player if he wasn't so nervous; he's better than what his brain can deal with.

We don't look very well drilled or organised at the back, need addressing or we are going to ship a lot of goals especially away from home. Hopefully having a Maguire and Evans available will sort that.

 

Still not sure of Ndidi and Iborra as a two, just so sloppy on the ball!

Positives are the eagerness to play fast football, I like Albrighton and Pereira but they've also made a few errors too. Iheanacho is looking the clinical player we hoped he'd be and Maddison although has fed on scraps has looked classy.

 

We're a little too direct from the back but can tolerate that when it's leading to balls in with quality from Albrighton and Maddison picking up the 2nd balls.

 

Most of the defence has looked a little lazy and Ndidi has been good and bad in equal measure.

 

Diabate has looked filth, can smell him from here.
