When Puel took charge, I asked a Southampton supporting mate what he thought. His exact words were " He'll turn you into a solid mid table team but you won't he good to watch"..... Seems fairly spot on so far although it is very early in the season.

Admittedly, I'm a little worried offensively. We are lacking in attacking midfielders (barring Maddisons bright start) and our new style of play looks like it COULD isolate our biggest attacking threat in Vardy.

On the other hand, we look like we're going to be a hard team to beat.

I dont think we can use the opinions of a Southampton fan to make an assessment of how good Puel/our team will be. He was only there 1 season and had little attacking options to work with so its unfair for them to say the attacking football wasn't great. I like that he's really working on developing the youth players and giving them a chance in the 1st team, and he addressed issues we had in the squad in the last transfer window by getting a rb,3 cbs and a number 10. Yes we are probably lacking a top winger but its too early to be reading too much into our perfomances after only 3 games. We can improve and will improve but we would have all taken 6 points from 9 before the season started. My only issue with Puel is he seems to struggle to find solutions when things go wrong. He had a bad run of results at the end of the season with Southampton and then did the same with us. If he has another poor run like at the end of last season he may struggle to keep his job. But for now i think we should all be Happy with our 6 points and be positive for the rest of the season.

I think we have been fortunate in our last two games, but the way we played at Man U was very encouraging.

Still too early to judge, as it's been a mixture of good and bad. Some warning signs for sure, but also some real positives too.

We do look like we may struggle to score in some games, but not too concerned about that at the moment.

If I had to predict how our season may turn out, after what I've seen so far, I would say comfortable mid-table with a lack of goals being our only real issue.

Happy to be proved wrong though and we push for higher!

The better we've played, the worse the result. It's been weird. This week's game is a good measuring stick but we could beat Liverpool and then turn around and lose to Bournemouth and/or Huddersfield and it won't be that surprising. We have a young team. Let's see them after a few months of playing together and note their improvement, if any (there'd better be). If there's no improvement after 10-15 games we got a problem.

How would you say our season so been so far?

Obviously 6 points out of 9 ain't bad but personally i'm disappointed in the performances.

After the Old Trafford game I was expecting more against Wolves and Southampton in terms of performances.

Perhaps we should be higher up re long balls, but don't forget Vardy has played about one full game of the three. We are unlikely to be targeting Iheanacho with those long balls, he simply doesn't have the speed. I suspect we will settle into the top-10 once Vardy is back though.

Also important to bear in mind that we have lost Riyad, and a huge part of our attack was to give it to him and watch him make something happen. It is fundamentally different for our players to take the onus of creation on themselves.

This is made more difficult by the fact that our no. 10 is new to the Prem, and we have never had two FBs who properly attack under Puel. So there is going to be an adjustment period as the lads figure out how to best utilize Chilwell and Pereira/Amartey.

Also worth a mention is how young our attacking players are when Vards is out, as he basically has been for two games. Maddison (21) Chilwell (21), Gray (22), Iheanacho (21) Amartey (23), I mean, Pereira is the elder statesman at 24 and he is new to the league. Idk that there is a younger core of attacking players in the league. FFS, isn't Wilf 21 as well? Maguire is 25, Mendy and Ghezzal are 26, this is a young f'ing team that we are expecting to challenge for top-7.

Consequently, we are a side that will be inconsistent. That is just youth. But we see their potential, we saw it vs Man U, and we will see them improve over the course of this season. Perhaps quite a bit.

And if we can get the lads firing like they did vs. Man U, and get some consistency, we will be a pretty fuching entertaining side imo.

Probably need to assess at the ten game mark, three games in who really knows ?

Our youth looks really good with Chilwell, Gray & Maddison excelling.

I don't think we have seen the end product yet though.

Football is a results business

Weve won the two games we thought we should win and have 6 out of 9 points.

Yes, our performances haven’t been great, but the squad’s different to last season (enough written on that above)

So far so good Id say. Would rather be getting points and not playing as well as we could, than be playing good football but losing

Results wise good start but performances very poor, we've shithoused both wins. I want to feel Puel is building a good side for the future but somehow I feel he's never going to create an exciting side that can break defences down even if we give him 5 seasons here.

Good against Manchester United and lost

not good v wolves and southampton and won

the thing that concerns me is that good performance against Manchester United maybe was not all that when you see spurs and Brighton both score 3.

that said I think we would have beat them and we not gifted an early goal

If we had played all 3 games like the Utd game but lost the lot, would anyone really be jizzing themselves over our performances. Shithouse wins are still wins.

10 games in I’m sure we’ll have a better idea.

Could be worse, we could be Weshtam or Manure.

We have not been that good, we look decent in patches but even then struggle to get actual shots on target.

I still think we looked better when he first came before the months of dour football, at present looking like a cut price Arsenal but with a dash of luck.

The two wins have brought valuable time, hopefully some major progression will be seen since luck only lasts so long and we start games in such a sloppy fashion that against dangerous teams it could be all over within 20 minutes.

On a major plus note, we do seem to have had a decent transfer window.

Basically, I'm still undecided at whether he can cut it in the Premier League but time will tell.

I think this is right. When Wolves were all over us before we scored, and when we played under par against Soton it was very frustrating to stand and watch. However the result is all that matters on face value.

I'm not sure we'll do anything on Saturday, so you're right, the games following that will be key. Bournemouth, Newcastle, Huddersfield and Everton before the next international break. All winnable and we won't get away with shithousing every week. It's about the progress we make throughout the season and we won't know that until we let it unfold.

Have we become to entitled now that every win needs to be glorious and wonderful. Wolves until we scored was a bit of a horror, but we barely looked like we got out of second gear after we'd scored, riding it out comfortably.

I'm very happy so far... Three very solid performances - slightly undone by a daft error in the first game.

Five goals scored and three against. Some really great football. Things are on the up...

Some brave decisions by the manager too despite negative fans. Bringing Maguire back before he's quite ready. Choosing Morgan (who played well) over Evans. Reselecting Amartey. Sticking with Iheanacho (despite failure to recreate pre-season form). Moving Gray up front. Puel may have his idiosyncracies but I'm very happy with his decision making in general at the moment. Reselecting Mendy is proving to be a successful decision too over the past two games. *Whoop Whoop That's The Sound Of Nampalys!'*

Liverpool will be a fascinating game.

This to me is all that is wrong with the modern game, evaluating how a season is going after 3 feckin games is truly a joke.

We have the Puel out brigade who will never take their blinkers off and move from their agenda.

Then we have the ' we've won the league' entitled, deluded and unrealistic fans who feel we should be challenging every season because we won it once.

Finally we have the patient, stability is good and it's a work in progress brigade excited by the young team and evolution to the new playing style.

Whichever of the camps above you sit in or lean towards, imo, assessing how 'a season is going' after 3 games is ridiculous.

We've won two out of three games and against Manure we played well, we had more possession and more passes against them. we've made a decent start if we'd won all three games there would still be some fans moaning(fact). Let's see where we are about in January!.

We played our best football in our defeat. Winning scrappy games which we arguably should of lost (im thinking Wolves) is what will make the difference at the end. We will have our run and we still have a very exciting centre back to make his mark once fit!. That goal will help Gray no end.. ive got a feeling he could co tribute 10+ with good confidence.

So all in all, im happy and i do like the transition in our styles.. although that will take time and changes to personnel, which is happening so we must be patient. Gut feeling is we will finish top half and be in the mix for Europa with a bit of luck.

Don’t think it’s unreasonable to be discussing how the season’s started. Otherwise what’s this place for?

Its all about results and working hard and they have proven they can dig in and get something from poor performances, especially when the team isnt fully balanced on level understanding with eachother and how they work best. Remember its a reliitively new style of play and new partnerships so lets give them a few more intense games before we raise the red flag and bitch.

I do worry without Vardy we have not got the proven calibre to get goals.

P.S Amartey is a load of shite.

The goal to 40 points is 15% done. If we can manage the 40 in, let's say, end of February, then we can look for a European spot.

The most important thing is to not drop points against teams we should beat, (which is what we're doing so far).

I wasn't saying don't discuss it, my point is that after only 3 games whatever viewpoint you have it is not enough games to make a reasoned assessment. Factor in the World Cup new personnel, youth and change of playing style and time to settle has to be a big factor surely?
