He executed Puel’s plan well when we were on top but after that we were completely overrun in all areas. He clearly wasn’t himself when he just shepherded the ball out of play after Leno saved from Maguire. Why would you want a corner when you can have the ball in the heart of the opposition area? Weird decision making and should have been subbed off. Bet he’ll score next week.

He needs his legs demagnatising. The problem is his legs are positively charged the same as the ball. The same polarity repels, thus when the ball comes to him, it just ricochets off him usually back out to an opposing player with negative charged legs.

It's so obvious.

But he's our most ionic player?

I hope she acknowledges the fact her husband try a silly ****ing flick before they equalised as well. Lost the ball when a simple lay off was suffice, 45 seconds and it’s in the back of the net

Before tonight he’d bagged 3 in 7 which is decent enough. The illness thing explains a lot tonight.

I think a lot are looking for something which isnt there. He was fine last season and hit twenty goals.

Nah he’s not been the same player for the last 3 years apparently mate

The other thing we’ll start seeing is him playing poorly when Maddison doesn’t play well. IMO that was Maddison’s worst game for us yet, which explains the little service Vards got.

Happy to sign a new contract under Puel though.. She probably wasnt moaning when his contract keeps her in the spotlight for a few more years.

Not going to read too much into last night if he was unwell.

Still a mystery how he scored so many last season given our style, we created a pathetic amount of chances for him but his finishing ratio was outstanding. I think we need to temper our expectation this season.

Yeh likes like this from his missus backs up the general feeling that Vardy isn’t putting everything in to games. Team Vardy appear disillusioned and appear to be blaming Puel for the many poor touches he has had this season, including for the 1st goal. For me, whether he’s not getting the right kind of passes or being played in the right position, there’s no excuse for not getting basic passes to your man right and also not closing down - It was one of his key attributes and he goes through the motions these days. It might be that the ? for Puel is going to be his main man Vardy.

That was Puel's fault, he told Vards to do it.

Mahrez was the main supply to Vardy, that has been cut now. Anyone know how many assists he created for Vardy?

Weve bought Maddison to try and fill the creative void but he doesn’t create much in open play. He looks more of a dead ball specialist.

Regardless of his status as a club legend, he should be called out when he's played badly.

Not having this 'it's Puel's tactics' bollocks. He's not outputting the same amount of energy as he was even under Shakespeare. That's not tactics - it's effort.

I'd much rather see a player give their all, even if they're uncomfortable in the system (e.g. Simpson), rather than watch him like he was last night. Pointing, slow to close down etc.  Worst I've seen of him in a Leicester shirt. Yes he may have been ill - but that excuse doesn't quite fit for his other below par performances this year.

Spot on. This was always going to be the case.

Mahrez to Vardy to goal was like eggs and bacon or beans on toast.... it worked!

As far as I can work out, just about our only source of supply to Vardy now is Maddison..and he’s still young and certainly can’t do it on his own.

Like selling Kante, selling Mahrez was always going to have it’s knock-on effects, despite plonkers on here trying to tell us it wouldn’t matter.

But, we are a selling club. We always have been and have to work with what we’ve got.

Last night Vardy was asked to do a completely different role to the norm. Both Iheanacho & Vardy were asked to play wide. For 35 minutes or so it worked as we had Arsenal on the ropes. As a footballer you have to be able to adapt to various tactics, whether last nights tactics got the best out of Vardy or not is a different question.

Those saying he doesn't get the service - that's a total myth. He's missed good chances against Everton, Huddersfield and Bournemouth off the top of my head.

Those saying he doesn't close down anymore - this is down to tactics, that I am certain of. There's no point having a one man press. Last night for the first 35 minutes we pressed well and cleverly. We just did was we always do in games and seem to lose grip of it and become easy to beat.

I got frustrated when he actually got pitch time for England, the lack of service and not playing to his strengths.

For England he could have been a very important player if they used him correctly.

Under this style, Puel’s style, it draws so many comparisons to me, as already mentioned by others, I’m not sure how he scored so many last season given the way we were playing and we’re seeing him suffer now.

He's a play on the shoulder, in behind forward, you aren't going to get the best of him dropping deep.

Yes he wasn't great, but his a goalscorer, not a number 10 or a winger, we created very little other than set pieces.

If we are going to succeed with Puel's style we need a Diego Costa or Drogba type forward, someone who can hold it up and bring other in to play and is a battering ram.

This.

He was the difference between probable relegation and Puel definitely being sacked last season with the best conversion rate in the PL. That can’t happen again, and when the chances are few and far between it’s too much too expect.

Puel has got a lot of work to do to make his tenure work with the alternative being Ian, in that without Vardy on very top form we won’t score enough goals.
