IF Nacho scores a brace and we win, I wonder if the Vardyites will say its the wrong decision? Like many have said.... His form is poor at the moment and POTENTIALLY he has been dropped. Happens to all players.....

I think the reaction on here would be understandable if this was say last week or next week but he came off ill against Arsenal and trained the first time this week on Thursday. He's not firing on all cylinders, quite easy to see. We've taken it as gospel that he's dropped and not just letting him fully recover, he definitely could have been dropped but the consensus in here is this is the worst case scenario.

Hmm... let's see if I can think of a few examples off the top of my head...

Southampton away, they're down to 10 and the game's there for the taking. All Puel does is like-for-like

substitutions (Gray who's playing up front off for Okazaki) and it needs Maguire taking things into his own hands by venturing forward and having a speculative pop for us to get the 3 points against a very poor side.

Away to Bournemouth and 3-0 down, two defensive midfielders and a back four for the entire 90 minutes (SIX defensive outfield players on the pitch for the duration).

At home to Everton and 2-1 down with 10-men, takes Maddison off (your one player who can stick a free kick in the top corner out of nowhere) and Okazaki on for a winger in the 86th minute was the first time he did anything near throwing caution to the wind.

At home to Liverpool we get them rocking for a good 15 minutes by getting at them and closing down quickly for the first time all game. The most adventurous Puel gets in search of an equaliser? Maddison off, Amartey on.

Arsenal away we try and sit in for the last 10 minutes of the first half and invite Arsenal onto us. The start of the second half is more of the same with Iheanacho and Vardy shunted out wide and Maddison our most advanced player through the middle.

Puel constantly has defence front of mind and it's no wonder that Vardy has suffered. When he's one of only 4 offensive players on the pitch and he thrives off people in and around him supplying him and letting him play on the shoulder of the last man it's no wonder he's hugely frustrated by what's going on around him.

So, yeah, take the shackles off Puel.

I still don't understand what you mean by "take the shackles off". Is it that you want us to attack more? Or play 11 attackers and no defenders? Did you not think we need to be able to defend a lead when we are ahead?

I guess you also can admit that taking a very tired Maddison off is a reasonable thing to do can't you?

I mean that I would like, when we are losing or drawing against a side that has just had a man sent off (which 4 out of 5 of those examples are), Puel to make some attacking changes.

Do you think it's necessary to have a back four and two defensive midfielders who offer nothing going forward when we are losing or have the chance to go for the jugular?

And who said that Maddison was very tired? How come Maddison is very tired not even a quarter of the way into the season?

Unless he's begging to come of because he's finished then I actually think your game-changers and those who can create something from nothing should always remain on the pitch when you're chasing a game. You don't?

Interesting discussion about this on Soccer Saturday right now.

They're speculating that he's been dropped for today's game.

Players form drops, Vardy is no exception. Think sometimes we look too deeply into it.

I don’t think he’s the sort of character to throw his toys out the pram. He’ll be back.

Ahahahaashanahaggfdsd lol lol lol

We need more creativity in midfield. We seem to be trying to have everything go through Maddison and it's predictable which is impacting service to Vardy and is not really helping Madders either. We need Iborra or someone else who can provide an additional channel of creativity. Perhaps revert N'Didi back to a DM to give our defense more solidity with Iborra and Mendy (or Silva) ahead of him. Because right now it seems like we are playing as 10 men + Vards. Playing like that is making Vardy look very dispensible.

I saw too I have to say I couldnt really disagree with what they were saying, we are a team unachievabing and at the end of the day is Puel the problem. I think come 7.30 tonight we might a clearer answer to that?

There is of course the chance that some people are reading a bit too much into this. Whilst there are many articles to be read online,  some more credible than others, one purporting to be interviewing Puel has him saying that Vardy has been off ill most of the week and came back to training Thursday or Friday  (not 100% sure of the exact day) He apparently commented that he hopes him to be ready for Saturday but can't be sure. Therefore if he's a little weak from illness and not 100% it doesn't necessarily equate to a player being out of favour. We largely feed on gossip and not fact.

Maddison did in an interview a few weeks back, he admitted himself that he needs to up his stamina to play a full 90 mins.

Is Vinnie's stamina up to full 90 minutes?   Just curious:ph34r:

A player off form is dropped. What's the big deal? Or there are players bigger then the club now?

People complain when players not being dropped. People also complain when players are dropped. Oh give me a break. He should've done better then 1 completed pass if he wants to keep his spot.

I think the big issue is really due to lack of an out and out replacement.

Which again comes back to the age old discussion and finger pointing towards poor recruitment which continually crops up season after season after season.

We've been needing to replace defence for 3 seasons now, it was on the horizon the season before we won the league! We've still done relatively little about it, finally this year we've signed some defenders but we're still waiting to see what they can bring.

It's been obviously for a while now that sooner or later we'll need a replacement for Vardy and our strikerforce as a whole, we've tried to sign players but they've largely been poor, I see no reason to suggest that'll change any time soon.

Maybe he should think about being consistent then and dropping N’didi as well

I'd be dropping Mendy before Ndidi, see how he does with a more forward thinking player. Ndidi was mostly fine as the ball winner alongside Drinkwater and Iborra at times last season.

But the biggest problem here is the fact the 1- we are not looking for a Vardy-type player in the Puel era and 2- we just can't. He's a special kind of player.

Vardy get the benefit of the doubt for the service he provided over the years and many of his poor games are brushed away. That same lexury isn't available to most players (if not all) on the club.

Most fans are just too gready and spoiled that every new recruit must live up to the 3 greatest players to ever play here imo (Mahrez, Kante and Vardy). Which honestly is stupid. How fair is it for a player to be asked to preform at such a high level? Is it fair for an Arsenal player to be compared to Henry and Vieira? That's just unrealistic.

I know as a fairly new fan that I haven't gained enough merits to call out some of the older fans but they are just spoiled and delusional.

Thing is, with the constent change of managers, we are finding out that  different coachs want different players. Every one of those managers wanted to build their own defensive unit with the players that they want but the club can't just go out and buy what's asked from them because we have too many defenders and no unit to speak of. That's the downside of constent change. The way of thinking is deferent from a person to another.

I've said last year that Puel will fade him away from the team in the next few years and some posters laughed at said notion. But here we are. Imo, Vardy's new deal is a sign that the club isn't on the same wavelength. We are stuck between rewording loyalty and being pragmatic. The moment the club chooses a side, is the moment we will move forward.

Been ill, not trained much , put on bench to come on later , starts Tuesday.

Non story.

You think he"ll make the bench then

Vardy was awful at the World Cup and hasn’t been great this season. Problem is, we have nobody to replace him. Iheanacho isn’t up to it and Okazaki certainly isn’t.
