Reports that the stadium name might change to the Khun Vichai Stadium

I think it would be great to name the stadium after him. There should also be something set up legally that the name of the stadium could never be changed, would be awful if one day they decided to sell the club and some new owners renamed the stadium. I like the sound of the Khun Vichai stadium

Saw another user on FT make a suggestion to call it 'King Vichai Stadium'. Most likely won't happen, be he is our king after all.

'King Vichai' would be seen as disrespectful to the Thai King I suspect!

Seems from that article that naming the new training ground after him is already a done deal, which most definitely should happen. I think a statue in front of the stadium is a great idea too, with a separate memorial plaque to all the victims at the crash site. Not as sure about renaming the stadium, due to potential complications a long time in the future, but sounds like Top is quite keen on it and we'll support whatever he wishes to do 100%.

I've read in an article that the new training ground will be named after him while the stadium will remain as King Power. Seems more suitable that way TBH.

I'd rather a stand (like Chelsea did) or, preferably, the training ground as the latter was something he sanctioned etc.

That said, the ground hasn't got much of a concrete name as we've already had two sponsorships. I'll always refer to it as Filbert Way personally.

Can't see this happening due to King Power being the family business now and the stadium name gives worldwide exposure to the brand. Vichai was an incredible businessman after all and I doubt he'd want that to change, the training ground and/or a stand would seem more appropriate.

I can't see them renaming the stadium, it's just too valuable to the King Power brand. It would be great to press on with the expansion plans, build a spectacular new East Stand and name it after him with a statue outside.

It would be truly fitting with the transformation he's overseen at our club and very poignant in terms of its proximity to where the accident happened.

The Council could rename Raw Dykes Road to the Khun Vichai Way as per the Tigers Way opposite the station.

They've already changed the end of it from Walnut Street from Eastern Boulevard .

This would mean both approaches to the Stadium would be the Khun Vichai Way.

....and would be unlikely to ever be changed.

Tricky one. Raw Dykes Rd represents about 2000 years of Leicester history so I doubt they’d change it, but it would be nice to see them incorporate his name somewhere.

I personally would like it if we named the new training ground after him.

A centre of excellence that follows the examples he set.

Yeah I understand that as I always wanted the Stadium to be called the Raw Dykes but it was never going to happen.

A compromise would be to change the part that used to be the Eastern Boulevard to Khun Vichai Way

That’s a good idea though I’d like to add the worth ‘The’ to the front of that which I think would be outstanding.

Khun Vichai built the little known King Power brand into a massive global phenomenon . I suspect he would prefer to leave the stadium as is as a canny and shrewd businessman

Disagree. It’s not so much in the public domain as the ground. It wants to be heard every other week on MOTD imo

I think a stand is more fitting, personally. The King Power Stadium is already a tribute to him. Someone else mentioned on here that it should be the Family Stand, as that’s what he’s created here at Leicester - a family. The Khun Vichai Family Stand.

I 100% agree with this.

As harsh as the future might be, if we rename the stadium but are subsequently owned by someone else then they might sell the naming rights meaning barely anyone calls it the Vichai Stadium.

Family Stand would be a perfect tribute.

Given all we’ve been through in that stadium since the rebrand, the name King Power Stadium has so much sentimental value to me. Even if the Club was to be sold and our sponsor changed, I would absolutely be more than happy to keep our home as King Power Stadium.

Name the training ground after him and throw up the nicest, most prominent statue of Vichai right outside the stadium, but I really would prefer for home to remain King Power.
