Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Goodness gracious me! What a set of results !! Well done on tactics Claude and well done to the lads on the effort. Just dont lose to Cardiff
Kendal Fox Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Absolutely delighted! 2 frightening fixtures consecutively and 6 points! Puel deserves some respite and credit for his tactics, beat Cardiff and we'll be in a very good position, regardless of the result at Goodison. Merry Christmas Foxes!

(PIMP) 433 Puel IN if he can put out a side that can actually play ‘football’ like he has the past two weeks. Hamza, Albrighton and Ricardo take a bow too. Wtf has changed? It is actually quite remarkable, all the more when you go back 3 to Crystal Palace!!
katieakita Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Hope those constant knockers notice that he changed the shape given Madders a list of instructions in the first half, this is not Football Manager 2019 but real life and in 4 days he has got one over two of the bigger name managers in football and today out thought Mr 100% total football. We are still a work in progress but hopefully everybody now gets behind him and the club. For all the money spent we actually out thought and created more than Oilchester,
cityfanlee23 Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Analysis of the match: Overall, What a performance, resiliant, well worked, well drilled, organised, dangerous and the better team today. Individually: Claude Puel - Another class act performance from the manager, had us well organised to soak up pressure when needed and the transition from defence to attack has been flawless, pressing hard when needed but happy to pass backwards and keep the ball if the counter isnt going to work. Has found a good system that nobody else was calling for, his subs were perfect and suited our change in style mid game to counter Man City changes perfectly, He's been trying to get us playing this way ALL SEASON through multiple formations and he's found the way to make it work, this is Puels style and always has been. PUEL IN. GK: Kasper - Great performance, did his job well and commanded his area, stayed calm when Man City put dangerous balls into the box and was communicating well, Distribution still needs to improve this season, few poor passes. Defence: Ricardo - What a game!! One of the best players at the club and is dangerous everytime he gets the ball, establishing himself in defence and devastating in the transition, what a strike, top class player. Wes - Well rounded game today, spotted a few poor passes but commanded the defence and had a great game overall, threw himself on the line a few times. Maguire - Another great performance, I really hope we can press on as a team and convince him we can bring him silverware in the future, he is our future captain IMO, brilliant all round today and calm on the ball as usual. Chilwell - Kept the pressure of the defence multiple times when bursting into space, positionally he's really improving dramatically under Puel and his all round understanding of the game is massively better thanks to the coaching team and the manager. Midfield: Mendy - Another cracking game, was around the pitch like a fly in everyones faces, got forward and got in defence like a box to box midfielder, Kante Mark 2. Choudhury - So much damn potential in this lad, Kept himself back this week and played a more defensive style compared to chelsea, did his job well and made some brilliant tackles, passes and interceptions. Ndidi - A few poor passes but another that is massively improving his all round play off the ball under Puel, moves into space, gets himself forward and does not stop running, the midfield 3 really kept De Bruyne at bay today. Attack: Albrighton - Mr Consistent, he's never really been a player that does anything magnificently apart from crossing but he's always been a solid player who does his job, recently he's been massively improved in this new system and looks to be making his mark under Puels style, comfortable on the ball and his passing and movement going forward is great, his goal today shows just how much he's improving in terms of off the ball play, got himself into an unplayable position. Vardy - Did not score but his role was very important, he finally started making runs into the channel as shown by his positioning for the cross to Albrighton, he's dragging players out of position and holding up the ball when needed, he played really well today even if his job will mostly go unnoticed. Maddison - Another that's really improving off the ball, made space off the ball and linked play all game, got us out of trouble with his close control when surrounded by players and was drawing in 3 vs 1 at times freeing up albrighton and Vardy, really clever play today. Subs: Gray - Did his job and kept the ball when needed, still think his vision could do with work as he sometimes spends too long on the ball in difficult situations instead of offloading posession but overall was a solid player who moved about and created space off the ball. Simpson - Good substitute here by Puel, Gray and albrighton switching in the attack allowed Ricardo to be pushed forward for the counter with Simpson defending well with Ricardos support. Clever Sub and worked well. Okazaki - Nothing really to do apart from run down players and hassle and he did that. Quality game from an improving team that look to be starting to understand Puels system under this new formation, that does not mean we have to play this formation week in week out as football is not that simple normally, we may need to change at times. Really happy for Puel and the Team, it's been a great christmas time for us! Up to 7th and 4 points off top 6. Make no mistake we have teams below us that are easily capable of a consistent run and this position is not ours for the taking just yet. PUEL IN

I was wrong in the Man C thread, he’s been outstanding last two games and makes teams make mistakes. Imagine having Barnes to come back... that crop of u21s has to be up there with our best surely.
NaijaFox Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 6 points on the trot against Chelsea and Man City. Who would have thunk it?!
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Goodness gracious me Chelsea away, now Man City Amazing ain’t the word Puel and his teams have been incredible over the past week I’m over the fookin moon about this today

We've just beaten Chelsea AND Man City... have we turned a corner? So many great talking points: - The 433 is viable. The midfield 3 of Hamza, Mendy and Ndidi has so much energy and bit it can give us a platform to build on. - Hamza Choudhury take a bow son! The boy becomes a man. This guy has a huge future with us after looking great against two top class teams. - Vardy has added to his game. He might not be such an indivual threat as in 15/16, but his all round game is superb. He is getting better at holding it up, linking it, and what a cross to Albrighton! - Marc Albrighton is another one that has improved his game. He's not just banging in cross after cross, but contributing going forward with great runs and now adding finishing to his game. - Puel switching it to 4-2-3-1. The 433 looked good but Sane and Sterling were getting too much joy because Maddison was drifting in field and our midfield 3 were understandably narrow. Hamza in the end had to be sacrificed, but the change had a profound change on our play. Maddison could start finding the gaps and playing in dangerous passes. He did this at 30 minutes in and it got us the win. Great tactical tweaks. - Ricardo!!!! This guy is the real deal. Yes if you want to be hyper critical you could say he was out of position for the first, but he was up against Sane and was a consistent threat all day long. And What.A.Goal. Get in there you wonderful foxes! Basically, we now have a plan a and B, something we've wanted for a while. Having the three midfielders allows the full backs to push up without sacrificing a stable platform in the middle of the park. Also its great we've got another academy product in the starting XI... if nothing else, Puel has been brilliant in trusting our younger players
Ted Maul Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Massive result in our relegation battle! Get in!
Tanya Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 That win was deserved. We had BETTER chances than Man City. When teams give us space we are so dangerous. Ricky P made a slight error with the goal but played a blinder for the rest. I am so thrilled. Now I just hope we can do the business against a team that will sit back, but for now, who cares, we made Man City look ordinary. Ole Riyad might be waiting a little longer to collect that second Premier League winners medal ?
Anglodanglo Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Puel out my big fat over eating Xmas arse.

I think we have played the same way all season just in a formation that has not really worked out. If you look at the individual players on the ball over the past 12 months, Puel is constantly willing them forward but we just have not had the movement ahead of the ball to make that happen. This new formation seems to have really allowed our style of play to work. We still passed the ball sideways and backwards alot, we still crossed a lot and we still put through balls in, the difference being we seem to be able to make more happen in this formation with the same style of play.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Well I’ll admit I lost faith in Puel but that’s his position cemented and no one should argue otherwise. Absolute masterclass. Great management and great desire from the lads. Get the **** in!!!
