The Horse's Mouth Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 Not being funny but he's been doggers this season

Clubs very rarely make their money back on players that don’t work out and I’d be very surprised if the information about £18 mill plus Silva didn’t do the job. ... if we, let's say value Silva at £10m and pay another £18m for Tielemans then we are paying over the odds. Judging by the comments from the Monaco forum they would be delighted to receive £15m.
StriderHiryu Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 Makes for an interesting last couple of days in the window! There is definitely something going on behind the scenes with this, that's for sure. That Puel comment made me LOL, that is backtracking of the century. I am now getting the feeling he will come here, we will collectively cream our pants, and he will just turn out to be another Ihenacho type signing that does nothing lol. But regardless, possibly the highest profile player we've been seriously linked to for a very long time.

moore_94 Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 This article says it how I think it is; clubs previously interested now being linked to Tielemans, just a way to hype up his profile a bit after a poor season, make him seem like a bigger/better player than he currently is at this point
Clarkey123 Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 Just when you thought puel couldn’t get any more boring. Outcasts Silva without even a sniff of the first team, have poor performances for the last 6 games including many more before that. Sell iborra, Silva says he wants out, get linked with a highly promising young midfielder. Then puel decides no we don’t want this man, Silva has all the capabilities of doing the same job. Wtf is this guy going on about it beggars belief
Jattdogg Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 All a smoke screen before we sign an another mahrez replacement unknown algerian. Well played puel.

Vardinio'sCat Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 http://sportwitness.co.uk/youri-tielemans-manchester-united-come-forward-midfielder-take-look/ 'Manchester United and the others have all been linked at previous points and it seems very unlikely that all three, especially Barcelona given their recent recruitment, would actually have active interest for a January deal. This looks an attempt to hype the player’s profile up after a difficult Monaco season.'

Say that and then people know we're desperate and the price of any deal shoots up. Unless you're one of the super clubs you have nothing to gain by being honest and showing your hand

That would put the bargaining power on the owning club

However, this story has caused every Spurs fan between the ages of 15-35 to tweet their disbelief that Tottenham aren't in for Tielemans if he's available at £20m, so that cancels out the above. In fact, this might even tip the scales to make me support this deal for the rustle factor alone. The bashing from Monaco fans is surely harsh, given that he’s rated as one of Their best players this season on WhoScored.

If you’re content on having a midfield consisting of mendy and wilf for creativity for the rest of the season be my guest pal but I personally can’t bare the thought of it, we desperately need another quality option in there or can’t help but feel it’s gona be a dross second half of the season

We need more creativity, which Tielemans may offer. Puel was just saying he is ok with what we have, and from a bargaining perspective, so he should say that
mazarron fox Posted 28 January 2019 Posted 28 January 2019 He’s that doggo he’s played more games than anyone his ratings are 4th best and his pass completion 86% could it be their fans are as equally delusional as ours and expected more from their young star ( Maddison and Ndidi come to mind shortly to be followed by Barnes )

But you can still get a deal done without telling the whole of the world press before hand

Wtf is this guy going on about it beggars belief Makes me wonder if he's bigging up the relevance and importance of Silva to our club in order to enhance Silvas value as a makeweight in any deal for Tielemans. It wouldn't exactly take exhaustive research by Monaco to see he hasn't been involved for months but a bluff that "Silva, oh yeah, part of our plans he is" tries to paint a better picture of the situation. Or my first instinct was that Tielemens won't be happening and Claude has been told that he has a perfectly good player in Silva and needs to utilise him instead of having someone new in the squad. Not sure if that rumour about him being left out to avoid further payments to Sporting are true, if they are, maybe in light of Iborra's departure the money men have said they'll bite the bullet and pay the extra appearance related fees as it's still cheaper than bringing someone new in. So there you go, three theories, as clueless as all the others!

I’ve heard that can be quite common.

Rather than us taking their 1st team player and sending some flop who cant make our bench as part of the deal??
