Signing this lad seems to be quite the gamble, but we're crying out loud for a creative CM and the proven ones are either out of our price range or simply won't come here. Hopefully it will turn out well (if it's confirmed). That's sort of where we are as a club, we don't have the financial power to go buy a world beater, but have to take a risk on someone with the potential to be brilliant.
Nick Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Bloke on their forum reckon it will be a loan without an option to buy. That’s pants if true!

It would, but would it be worse to have Tielemans on the subs bench or Silva? Seeing as Silva gets no minutes now, worth a gamble you would guess.

Fox85 Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Don't think we will do a deal without option to buy. Just can't see there being any point. Jardem doesnt rate him at all, prefers Silva I think. We will see
moore_94 Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Newcastle now apparently interested, although don’t think we really need to worry about them as competition for him, as suggested in the article, just being used to put pressure on us for the deal

roblcfc84 Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 No way on this planet Newcastle are spending 27m whether it’s euro or pound. Their record signing is still Owen at 16m, and before that Shearer at 15m.
coolhandfox Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Loan without first option to buy is a complete waste of time
Ric Flair Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 I would counter walking away from this deal with what the alternative is, and that is Mendy and Ndidi for the rest of the season. We can believe that Silva will get a chance but even if he does, will he hit the ground running enough to make a material difference in breaking down stubborn defences. Tielemans offers us a fresh face who is a goalscorer and has an array of forward passing ability, he may also bomb but it's worth the chance. I'd want him permanently but for the sake of ours fans, I'd take the loan swap at the very worst.

StriderHiryu Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Loan with no option to buy is weird but perhaps it can be used to convince him to sign permanently in the summer? Chelsea did the same thing with Kovacic for example. Can also give the fans something to be excited for. But I tend to agree that having him on loan without an option to buy is pointless and I'd rather we just play other young players who we do own instead.

Absolutely and I guarantee if we walk away and Newcastle get him on loan then there'd be uproar on here saying why didnt we get him. The alternative is the same midfield as we've seen all season and we could conceivably not muster up any more wins at home, I wouldn't want to chance that to be honest Haha.

Nicolo Barella Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 I'd be happy with a swap deal tbh. He's young enough that worst comes to worst we sell him for 10 mil if he flops. Probably closer to the 20 mil mark, especially if we loan him successfully to some middling league ie Turkey/Russia/Portugal. If he works out great.
moore_94 Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Source that originally brought up the big club interest now showing it is probably all just agent talk, we are really the only club interested, other teams just being used to pressure on us

I don't think anyone from Leicester would be unhappy with a permanent swap deal because there's no way that Adrien Silva is now worth £20m. It's the loan swap deal with no option to sign permanently that is putting off a number of fans and likely our club. We don't tend to take on players we have no agreement in place to sign permanently but perhaps we'll make an exception. The reason being, Puel is under pressure and the club may well be considering a change in the summer. We also have significant problems in central midfield and the alternative to a short term deal for Tielemans is the same as before and with the fans already up in arms it could be a decision the club look to make. It also suits Silva to go and get some football. I would do it as a last resort if we can't agree anything more permanent for him, even if we got first option on a permanent deal for the 12 months after the loan deal wouldn't be the end of the world. I think a fresh face in midfield would give the club a lift.
AKCJ Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 A loan swap without the option to buy would still be better than nothing. This lad offers different qualities to our current midfielders.
FoxinNotts Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 Just get the deal done. Worry about a permanent switch, at the end of the season. Many things change.

FrankieADZ Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 im sure both teams will want the loan to be made permanent, but its probably the usual thing of being a difference in valuation, i think if ts a loan where then we have first refusal to buy then it might be a bit better than just a plain old loan
Blanchflower78 Posted 29 January 2019 Posted 29 January 2019 The truth is we don't know what's happening but you can't help fear were not particularly good at these higher profile signings...
