No more of a waste than just keeping Silva as 4th choice, which we'd have to do. At least this way we have cover and the chance to look at another player.

It’s more likely the links to Barca, Man U and Spurs are being used to generate us giving them Silva and a few million.

Thats true, I just think majority of players brought in at the Jan windows don't always perform well. If it was a permanent deal I'd be total for it but if it's a loan I just feel there's risk.

Puel has just said he has Silva with the same qualities so doesn’t need him.. now I swear Puel said Silva wasn’t a box 2 box midfielder last season!

Usually works the other way round - bigger/richer clubs get linked to encourage the actual buyers to stump up the extra money the sellers want

Looking at us. Mendy was coming in after Kante who is impossible to replace and Mendy isn't even that good. Silva perhaps we will never know and that was bad luck. Slimani and Ihaenacho (who is still young and may come good but completely shot of confidence) were never going to displace Vardy who is one of our best players of all time and we paid first team money for squad players. Musa ditto. 

 

Tielemans just has to replace Mendy for us now if we sign him so will almost certainly be an improvement and at his age gets basically a free hit to get up to speed for the remainder of the season.

 

Get him in and we are really shaping up well for next season. Especially if Benkovic is as good as the Celtic fans seem to think he is.

That is highly impressive youthful team and he will deserve a lot of credit.  Will have no problem at all if this is the philosophy of the club to play younger players, develop them, entertain fans and sell them on for profit. Puel has done well moving on players not good enough or wanted. Lowered average age of the team and  Ward looks great as back up and could even start if Kasper leaves. Highly promising and exciting team to watch. Should bode well for the future. Exciting line up with lots of potential and as you said could cause a few problems to the Big 6..

So apparently Monaco and their fans think he's been rubbish for a prolonged period of time, we show an interest, then suddenly two of the biggest clubs in the world are after him as well.

 

Screams of agent talk and/or Monaco trying to bump up the price.

 

My guess is that we've gone in for him around the £18m mark, which seems fair given he's supposedly out of favour. Monaco are playing hardball because they want to recoup the €22m (£19m) they spent on him plus a bit of profit. They've 'leaked' interest from a few big clubs to make us rush to get this over the line for £20m+ before we miss out.

 

 

Or the whole thing is b*llocks and we were never interested anyway.

Quite clearly it all hangs on Silva going or staying, he goes we might get him, he doesn't go we don't get him. He clearly doesn't fancy Silva in a two, which I can understand.

Why is it an odd shift? We lost a player we didn't think we'd lose in Iborra, because someone was stupid enough to give us a good offer. The shift is perfectly sensible and in the clubs best interested.

 

I can't fathom why everything has to be someone's (usually Puel's) fault.

The thing that amazes me whether the links are bs or not, we’re in for a player who’s linked with 2 of the biggest clubs in the world in Man U & Barca. Which obviously shows he’s got something about him yet, some people on here still question whether he’s good enough for us or not.
