£50 million pounds - An absolute joke.

I was just thinking how utterly ridiculous it was to have spent £50 million pounds on Slimani and Silva and neither of them are being utilised in any capacity and we just all accept that it didn't work out.

 

How the hell do you sit down and agree to spend £50m on two players and then just bin them and have nobody accountable for the whole debacle?

 

That's the kind of money that you build a team around but we have some how just brushed them under the carpet like they never happened. I'm sorry for this sudden out burst but it just came into my head and it made me rage. 

 

50 ****ING million and no plan to even try to make them work!

I presume it wasn't the intention when spending that much to just bin them  

Sometimes signings don't work out and pretty much every transfer fee is inflated to a ridiculous amount these days. Yes it is pretty shit that we've wasted that kind of money but I wouldn't say it's been brushed under the carpet either.

Slimani was a panic-buy hence the inflated fee. Silva was actually decent money given his experience both at club and national level. Just the fiasco that came with it kind of overshadowed any kind of impact he could have made. Sitting on the sidelines not even being able to play in reserve matches is always going to have some kind of effect. It's just a bit shit that we've got a manager in place who doesn't seem to be able to fit him in anywhere. You don't get to be as good as he (Silva) is in his career and just turn shit overnight as some would be led to believe. I do wonder if there was another manager at the helm (note, not a Puel Out slant), if he would be fitted in.

Slimani was 3 managers ago and played under the management that signed him plenty, he just doesn't fit the current team and system. Silva is a farce, although again signed by a different manager - some players just don't fit for different managers. The criticism with the Silva move is that he was never available for the manager that wanted him, there's nothing really to be said of the Slimani deal

It happens, we're not the first and won't be the last to spend over the odds on players who either aren't that good or don't fit into a manager's plans. "Accept that it didn't work out" is pretty much all we can do, isn't it?

Had high hopes for both these players but it just didn't happen for one reason or another. Stoll feel they could do a job for us just need to change the way we play slightly.

Cus we keep sacking managers so the waste of money unwanted players just build up because new managers prefer different players.

It’s not our money, it’s not even real money, it’s all part of the sky money machine. Take the sky money out of the equation and No player on earth is really worth 10 million quid, the clubs only pay that sort of money because they’ve got it. I think Wimbledon are proving that point at the moment.

I think the worst thing alongside the fees was their ages, if it went sour, which it has, it makes it impossible to recoup a similar fee to what we paid.

Both could still work with games, and the right system, and a manager that believes in them.

 Slimani when he was played had a decent scoring record with us if my memory serves me right, and we are crying out for a slimani type player when teams sit in, and we resort to throwing aimless balls into vardy

The £50m is bad enough. But the wages we pay them is the killer. No one that wants either of them can afford the wage. 

 

That wages will be what's killing us atm.

I did, I thought slimani would be a decent player for us but I couldn’t work out why everyone was raving about silva because he was the wrong silva, the other one was the world class one, not the one we bought

I bet we have recouped £10m loaning our slimani and we won’t have paid anyway near the full reported figure for Silva due to lack of appearances. I bet it’s less than £30m net.

Big money signings like that are high risk/high reward signings. They work they're absolute world beaters, anything other than that it's a failure. Small money signings like Evans, most of the time are low risk and you might get a good player out of it but they're very unlikely to be world class within a few years.
