Andy King - Derby fan in peace...

Hi all,

As you know we've just signed Andy King for the rest of the season. What are people's thoughts on him? Where does he play? Will he fit in quickly? Why's he been let go from you?

Appreciate the input in advance.

Best.

He could potentially smash it in the championship. Good finisher when he's really on form and who better than Lampard for someone in that role. Hard working. Gurns a lot :)

He may find a new lease of life under Lampard. He’s a club legend and has been a great servant to us. He is an ultimate pro too. He probably had his best period under Sven, who allowed him the freedom to break from midfield and score a few goals, he does possess an ability to arrive late into the penalty area and chip in with goals, which is why under Lampard I expect him to do well, he could add between 5 and 10 goals which could potentially really seal the play offs for you boys.

All in all, you’ve got a good egg, who’s a steady eddy, but has a few goals in him.

He has the knack of scoring goals

a championship Lampard

Look after him…!

Ps…. Ignore any daft comments that may appear on this thread…. I’ve met loads of people from Derby and one of them was ok!

Andy King is the ultimate professional and there aren't many at Leicester that wouldn't want to see him back in the future in some capacity. He is now of a certain age and we have younger players now for the future in his position which is midfield or in the past a number 10. He is not a dynamic player but will do the dirty work tracking runners and keep the ball moving efficiently, every team needs one. Can be a good finisher. With Andy King you can guarantee his best efforts.

At his best he's the Frank Lampard of the Championship. A midfielder who bags a lot of goals, with quality on the ball and a real team player.

Why have we let him go? He's a bit like Dwight Gayle for West Brom. Too good for the Championship, not quite good enough for the Premier League. Thus he's ideally suited to either a team who are chasing promotion or a team scrapping to stay up. These days we are more in the "mid table mediocrity" so we've moved on from needing him.

The guy has a League One, Championship and Premier League winner's medal. He's also played in the Champions League! Once he's match fit I think he will make a big impact for you guys, especially as you have some of the other Leicester old boys like Nugent also within your ranks.

He was a very similar style to Lampard when he first came through here. Midfielder who popped up with plenty of goals, had a habit of 'ghosting' into the box.

That seems to have lapsed from his game somewhat, which is why he's had limited chances here. He's a good all-rounder, but nothing special at Premier League level.

Hard worker and model pro, though. Working with Lampard might help him reignite his early form for us, in which case you'll have one hell of a player.

He used to be the Championship version of Frank Lampard for a few seasons, he was an amazing goal scoring midfielder but everything else was steady. Since Pearson came back to us in 2011/12, the goals started to dry up for King and although he maintained his ability to produce in the most important and biggest of matches, he started to fall behind younger and more dynamic players like Drinkwater and then obviously Kante etc. In the last few years he's been a bit part player who still never let us down and his important goals vs West Ham and then Swansea were crucial for us in that great escape before winning the league. He will do well for you and I reckon Lampard will get him focusing on that late run in to the box where he is ice cool at.

If you can find a vid of the season he had under Sven where he got 16 league goals, it was breath taking.

I drove past him on the way to work on transfer deadline day, pulled in behind a parked car to give way and he didn't give me the obligatory hand off steering wheel acknowledgement. Bad egg. Steer clear!

You have got a decent honest professional who will do a job for your team who will divide fan opinion on his abilities and performances. a very good Championship player who doesn't mind being on the bench.

Quiet player, gets accused of "going missing" in games, not particularly flashy, keeps the ball well.

Terrific finisher in front of goal and does tend to show up in big games like play-offs and local derbies.

Derby play 433 I think, should be fine as the most advanced of the three or box-to-box, great finisher and can score from distance but is defensively poor as well as a very safe passer.

Cheers for the info.

Good luck for the season...you never know we may finally win a game in February and March and challenge for promotion!!

Fingers crossed. Personally, I would like as many local teams to come up as possible. A lot of fans want Derby, Forest etc to stay down but I like local derbies which we no longer have. Any of Derby, WBA, Villa, Birmingham or Forest to come up.

Good luck.

Jesus...who ever this guy is gerrimin!!!!!!

funny thing is, after the title,no manager played him in his best role.. Attacking midfield..!!!  What we have been missing since the title.

Just picking him, then ask him to play holding /defensive positions,we're never his games!!say

And to say he couldn't do it in the PL...well he did in our great-escape and  title year, and came in when DR was injured or suspended..

I always said and posted Andy was our best attacking midfielder when we were on the front foot...In the last years,we never picked him,to play

in his best role.....I thought we would go out and invest in a better player,we never did,and even with Maddison ,King was the best unused attacking

Midfielder,we have had on our books over the last few years.....The managers have all mid-used him!! Including Coleman for Wales, when he tried to

change him into a defensive/holding midfield player....I still maintain we have missed out on his strengths!!!
