Celtic fans slagging Leicester off staying its a step down, basically calling us a Swansea, hmm they seem to forget, what happened two years ago, that we play in the best lge in the world, our team not full of premiership rejects also they play in Sunday pub tin pot lge :)

Yeah - Celtic Chat is very amusing.  Amazing how things changed since they knicked MON and Lenny.  We should never loan any players to them ever again, give them to Rangers instead:ph34r:.

seriously buddy .... Claudio had lost it big time and shakey didn’t have the ability to manage a PL club. (Tactics and motivation)

stop believeing the narrative put out there by those who have a strange agenda ...... not sure why they don’t like the very specific character traits that meant we actually achieved the pinnacle of our supporting lives .........

To be fair to @Deeg67 this slagging off of managers is hardly unusual (Probably at any clubs), and even the most ardent Puel outter must accept surely that his task was more difficult than the last couple of managers, at least with regards to the mandate to blending youth into an aging squad.

Not apologising for Puel, he got it wrong, but as a fan base we need to keep in mind the good of the club, ahead of personal preferences.

It is hardly unthinkable we have Rodgers out (homemade) placards on show during the 2019 festive period. (if he joins).

In fact as Christmas is a torrid, busy time, might just beat the queues.... :)

Whats strange is you refusing to acknowledge the common denominator

I am sure we have approached Celtic/rodgers with a view to him making a decision now

however, it’s not our style to leak stuff like this  so it must have been leaked from their end. it’s not in Rodgers interest to leak it unless he intends to knock us back and make the most of the opportunity to ingratiate himself further with this fanbase.

Similarly, if clectic leak it and then find a way of keeping him there then they can also manipulate the situation to their advantage

imo, (and I am wrong plenty of times ), the fact that this has leaked means he is less likely to take the job now (unless everything has been done and dusted and the leaks are because it’s all agreed - in that case Claude was already a goner irrespective of the weekend horror show)

on balance, I believe this isn’t happening

Your Chelsea comment could well be reasonable but they don’t generally do so badly on the pitch

The common denominator being the players - how do you propose that a squad and it’s psyche are changed completely in less than five years ??  The manager had  a very difficult task but there are ways of making it easier for everyone ....... including yourself

puel failed because of his character, not the players and club staff that he alienated

The fact that Celtic Fans are shitting their pants is a good sign, that the manager is good.

Brendan Rodgers is not perfect but imo he is the best British Manager there is, and he will get the backing he needs to take up to the level the owners want. Top 6-7.

Ranieri also ''alienated'' club staff. I guess Shakespeare didnt alienate the staff, but the players still had the same old issues at home under him

This squad of players has always gotten inconsistent results in the PL except under Ranners.

Its possible the PL skewed players' and staff expectations, or at least gave them license to throw every manager under the bus

That last comment is speculation, but its speculation one can make from the rumours that keep coming out of the club

Viva la Rodgers

Danny Ward looked impressed there lol

Always interesting when there’s a player who has worked under a manager before joining. He’s either in the dressing room now saying he’s an utter **** or that he’s the best manager he’s worked for.

It makes no sense in my mind for him to leave Celtic now... on the cusp of another treble, what are we aiming for now?

I’m sure I read not so long ago if he returned to England it would be with top 6 and nothing less... Arsenal was summer link but never happened, Utd next but Ole looks like he’ll get that gig... Chelsea?

Can’t see it personally, but who knows, our sales pitch might work.

I’d still rather go after Rafa or maybe, just maybe, look outside the ‘former premier league managers’ shortlist.

The strong dressing room is a product of Pearson’s management style - he encouraged it and I woud argue it was a crucial tool in the players coping with the pressures of winning the PL

it should be used by the manager to his advantage but for that to work he has to carry them with him ........ shakey was not thrown under the bus by the players - he simply wasn’t up to it

a well rounded manager will do very well here ..... the experienced pros generally have the good of the club at heart ...... they could have left for more money elsewhere if they only cared about themselves ..... a few will depart in June anyway as they won’t be kept on.

No top six club is employing him, he can dream all he wants.

I feel for Celtic fans in a way. Historically an absolutely gigantic club. They're being let down by the league they're in now. Personally I think British football needs a strong Scottish league. I'd love to see Rangers vs Chelsea, Celtic vs Man Utd or Liverpool vs Aberdeen in good, competitive Champions League games for example.

I'm over MON jumping ship as well. He left us in a great position, it was the club that fvcked up afterwards with Peter Taylor.

I'm still more bitter about Brian Little going to be honest, although he was a good listen on the RL Football Forum not long ago. We'd only just been promoted when he left so we weren't established in the FA Carling Premiership (as it was then). I adored Julian Joachim at that point in time, and have fond memories of Simon Grayson rising like a salmon at the back stick and nodding the ball back across goal and into the net. Little's Leicester was the team I fell in love with as a kid, so him leaving at such a crucial time and taking some of our best players with him is much harder to swallow for me than MON leaving us as an established top tier side.

Not sure why Celtic fans are bothered. Even Moyes, Fat Sam, Pardew or Hughes could win trophy after trophy there!

Lets face it. If Celtic are at Leicester City level, (and I doubt Celtic are even Championship level) I would estimate these are the equivalent teams:

Celtic = Leicester City.

Rangers = Sheff Utd..

Aberdeen = Preston North End.

Kilmarnock = Derby County.

Hearts = Hull City.

Hibs = QPR.

St.Johnstone = Rotherham Utd.

Motherwell = Fleetwood.

Livingston = Gillingham.

Dundee = Macclesfield Town.

Hamilton = Hartlepool Utd.

St. Mirren = Barrow.

Backroom staff will be interesting. Brendan hasn’t got his old school team behind him anymore. In fact his current Assistant manager was a youth coach here ten years ago.

Hes also got Kolo Toure and Damian’s Duff, would be great to see more ex player specialist coaches here!

Kolo will have good experience dealing with big personalities after having to put up with his brother

Brendan Rodgers could leave Celtic with minimal disruption. This is probably a shallow comment, but in Celtic’s position, it probably matters little who their manager is when it comes to their chances of winning the league. It’s a one-horse race. Obviously his chances of European football are much, much more likely at Celtic (no disrespect intended, but as I said, it’s a one-horse race), but the global interest and resources he’d be able to play with at Leicester would probably be heftier. Would this be enough to coax him? I don’t know.

A fun bit of history that’s irrelevant to the point: we were actually managed by Brendan Rodgers briefly. He left us for recent Premier League jettisons Reading, days after asserting his commitment to us. He’s not held in the highest regard at Watford.

We mean serious business seriously though, it’s better to land our managerial target now rather than the summer it would give Rodgers More time to evaluate what he needs for next season. Be an added bonus if we make Top 7 this season.
