Does anyone really see Mike Stowell a mediocre coach at best, really improving our league position? Outside of the new manager bounce he may get for a couple of games I'm pretty sure we'd end up with the situation that Everton had last season with Unsworth. We'd probably stay up but not by much.

It doesn't really matter who takes over now, it'll be enough to keep us up. And apart from the extra cash for one or two positions higher, realistically, we have nothing to do with the race for 7th. So why get someone in for 11 games knowing our season is going to finish mid table. Agree, Mike Stowell is not one to take us anywhere, but right now we just need to pick up some points, finish the season and move on to 2019/20.

If the new manager doesn’t join until the end of the season then the clubs planning for next season probably only begins then . Surely we need to start lining up targets and making decisions on who is released ahead of the close season . I appreciate the importance of getting the right appointment but wasting a quarter of the season by marking time with a stand in is not without potential problems

Was Sid James and Hattie Jacques in that one?

Yeah - Bernard Breslaw as Harry Maguire, Bernard Cribbins as Vardy, Kenneth Williams as Maddison, Jim Dale as Harvey Barnes & Charles Hawtrey as Ghezzal.

Not one of the better ones, but an improvement on the original idea -  'Carry On Claude.'

Interim, even if that interim manager is from inside the club. So a mix of A and B I suppose. Basically just don't rush to pick a permanent replacement til the summer.

If Appleton would come back and accept he isn't getting it full time, he'd do.

I'd have liked to see us say 'Adam Sadler will take charge assisted by Mike Stowell'

Feel like we've missed an opportunity there, Adam has bags of experience with youth teams and is highly analytical (given it was his job with us for four years)

He's also the most vocal on matchdays.... I think there's a future manager in there... would have been nice to see us not revert to type with Stowell front and centre as always.

I fear with an interim doing well we could fall into the same trap we had with Shakespeare.

Been saying this all day!!!

Those saying appoint now...

Who is available that you would like to come in?

Well, there's Hughes, Moyes, Fat Sam, Pardew and Wagner.

Take yer pick!

No to all of them.

I think it's more of a case what do people think will happen. Ideally we can get the manager we want now, whether that's Rodgers or Rafa, however that's highly unlikely. You never know though, Celtic 8 points clear at the top, with the manager likely to leave at the end of season anyway, so they may just take the £6m.

Valid point. But if we go down the interim route make it clear to FT that it is only interim even if the chosen one records 11 wins.

Not sure that’d go down well with fans or players in that obscure scenario!

i'd like us to win a game but i'm not holding my breath. failing that, draw enough games and everyone else manage to do badly enough to mean that we don't go down. couldn't really care who's in charge for the time being. we need to win some matches or we'll be looking for a new manager to help with our promotion push next year.

I can’t form an accurate opinion as I don’t know enough of what’s actually going on.

When's that ever stopped anyone from posting on here?
