Oh yeah because Ed Woodward is famed for his ability to get business done swiftly and effectively It's not like United's move for Maguire had come out of the blue is it? If you do get it done then you'll be paying way over the odds. Win / Win for LCFC.

Dahnsouff Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 I also do not buy that the injury to Bailly has not effect on this transfer, that media rubbish - of course it will.

I can see Woodward/Utd being completely arrogant and disregarding that deadline and waiting until Transfer Deadline day to force through a deal for a fee substantially less than we value Maguire for. I think they are putting all their chips on the fact that when deadline day comes, Maguire will hand in a request. In the meantime, Agent Sky Sports News will keep him unsettled.

whitlock Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 Hopefully Top changes his mind and whacks another £10m onto Harry's valuation just for bantz now we know United have become more desperate.
Nick Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 90 million or gtfo. Same as day 1 just got less time now to pay up. I’d honestly imagine if it’s not done by Tuesday, Top will close the door altogether.

In recent windows, the deals we completed in the first half of the transfer window (Ndidi, Maguire, Madders, Ricky) have generally been considerably better than the ones we've completed in the second half (Slim, Soy, Ghezzal). I don't have much confidence in us spending the money wisely at this point in the window. I would like to think we have a target or two sorted incase he goes. 2 hours ago, yorkie1999 said: That depends on how desperate Man Utd become. If, in January, they are struggling they will still pay the asking price and maybe more, if they’re not we won’t have lost anything because, as been stated by the manager(someone who really is ITK) we don't need to sell which probably means the funding is there already for the stadium expansion and the training ground and future players in the positions he wants to strengthen. Dodgy game for them waiting till january. If we are flying and they are struggling we wont sell at any price. Why would we make ourselves weaker and them stronger. £120m in jan if your correct.

Harry is not the faultless individual some now seem intent on making him, he is our best defender as the whole package, but his defensive side has flaws. I've come on here after every game and said how great he played for a certain part of it but that he was catastrophic at least once in every single game. So unfortunately we can't keep putting in player who does that if they are costing you goals. Yes others make mistakes, but not every game and not as bad IMO. 2 hours ago, Dahnsouff said: The point about this season being our one/best chance - I sincerely hope you are wrong. If we bank everything on this single season, our single chance to upset the applet cart, then its a fairly sh*tty strategy. The nature of squad is one ripe for internal growth due its age and potential. This is by far the best squad in the EPL which can, on its own, with good coaching - improve significantly without further signings (Once Brendan has got his last one of two in to complete his setup) Just my personal thoughts, but if its not true, why bring Bredan in (A man well known for improving youth), rather than a more instantn impact guy? I feel we are targetting organic growth once all the pieces are in place, and the "this season is it" mentality is a fan thing only. I believe it's our best chance for a while unless we get our recruitment absolutely spot on next summer. I didn't say anything about it being our strategy to bank everything on this season, but I do feel that it's how the chess pieces has fallen for us now. Vardy can't keep going forever. You can only stand in the way of players careers and keep turning down offers for so long. We need to see progression or European football now to stand any hope of keeping people happy in the longer term, both in terms of their careers and financially. Also, the top 6 are looking very shaky, with United, Arsenal and Chelsea all looking like this season could potentially prove a struggle compared to normal. With two inexperienced managers, mismanagement at the top, transfer bans and lack of funds etc. So whilst the long term strategy remains in place of steady growth, investing in youth etc. The way things are you have to look at it and say a top four spot could be up for grabs. With that in mind, going back t the original point I just can't put my faith in someone like Soyuncu. I don't want to be sat here in a year wondering what could have been after his 12th clanger of the season.

That wouldn't make a difference on our stance, he wouldn't be allowed to leave, as our valuation hasn't been met and our own personal deadline will have passed. I'd say that come the start of next week, I believe our deadline will have passed and that'll be the end of it from our side.
mozartfox Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 It saddens me sometimes how some quarters on FT write players off so quickly. We have not seen Benkovic play yet and Soyuncu just for a handful of games. Yet already there is talk of spunking cash on Burnley and Brighton CB’s. I appreciate that if Harry goes and we do not replace, our fortunes could be fundamentally influenced by a weaker defence. On the other hand, we may be pleasantly surprised! Foreign players do need to time to become accustomed to the EPL, but they have to start somewhere and hopefully we will all get behind these younger players if they are chucked in because HM leaves on Dead-line day.
Dahnsouff Posted 26 July 2019 Posted 26 July 2019 Excellent post (in my opinion) on Red Cafe This to me is the crux of the issue. Making a stand on Harry, could very impact the attractiveness of the club to other potential suitors. I agree we should get the best possible price were he to leave, but it should not be treated in pure isolation of other factors that progress the club. Would have replied, but my ridiculous 3 posts a day limit has been met.

Keep our best players and get into Europe, the whole world would agree we did the right thing. Keep our players and cock it up, ending up in 9th, then we’ll have a hard time with future player attraction. We’ve been a path to the England team recently, so you’ve seen a lot of exciting English youngsters join. Go on and do something big this season and we start writing additional narrative as to why we’re a good fit for any aspiring top players. We need to do well this year for many reasons.

I get the point he is making and somewhat agree but I think the ambition is for us not to not be a stepping stone, it’s not written anywhere that those 6 clubs have a divine right to always be in their current position and it’s not unthinkable that they can be replaced, selling our best players every season goes against that and means we won’t ever consistently fulfil the ambition that we have
