Harry is nowhere near where VVD was when he was at Southampton, nor as ridiculously hyped as Stones when he was at Everton. Doesn`t mean we shouldn't hold out for the 75m + you mentioned, it just has nothing to do with ability. Surely he's even more hyped than Stones was, after World Cup Slabhead Mania? That's part of what's contributed to his price tag.

You may be right, but a whole season of listening to "New Maldini" type crap from the media with regards to Stones was tiring, far more so than a summer of over-excitement. We can supply a homegrown defender and demand as much as we want for him.
Foxin_Mad Posted 26 June 2019 Share Posted 26 June 2019 (edited) Think he is 'hyped' because all these nob heads keep printing stories about him and clubs like Man Utd and Man City are supposedly bidding for him. If they want him they can pay what we demand, else they can do one. We don't need to sell anyone and shouldn't be bullied by these clubs or players/agents. If they are in contract they are our players until someone pays the money we ask for! Edited 26 June 2019 by Foxin_Mad

Steve Earle Posted 26 June 2019 Share Posted 26 June 2019 The Wan Bissaka fee is gobsmackingly crazy. If there’s any logic to it, Harry’s worth over £100M. He’s not leaving anyway. I trust in Rob Tanner!

Now that Man United have one it's a term of endearment whereas Simpson was slated and not picked for England despite clearly being the best defensive right back in the country in the season we won the league.

Lambert09 Posted 26 June 2019 Share Posted 26 June 2019 The waters not even been tested yet. As soon as teams start missing out on top targets I guarantee not just Harry but our other young stars will be targeted with crazy deals on offer. Its going to be a bumpy ride and I hope we are willing to hold out. If we can get YT over the line before silly season we will be in a great position. Please Sir John of the Rudkins, by the first week of july sign YT and a striker, a winger if you have the time.... then pop the out of office on and head to SE Asia for a month to find yourself. Do you think we can start a go fund me to pay for his trip?

Chilwell will end up going for more than Maguire. But people need to realise that Maguire won’t be leaving unless clubs match our valuation.

Agree to a large extent. But don't understand, really, of those who complain about Sky (for example) 'controlling' the game - why they still subscribe to them (although I do agree with their negative stance against the company and BT)?.. It's as if customers are 'feeding the troll more' in this instance. The company has partially ruined the game, never mind the money it sends to clubs etc, and there appears to be no stop to them sadly. It surely will change at some point, all these other sources trying to get in on the act pose a dilemma. Do Sky and BT, the main two keep paying more and more or do they use the increase in different platforms as a way of driving the price down by changing how they broadcast. I can't believe that in 10-15 years these historic subscriptions will remain the same, things are becoming more tailored and customised. More choice.

Seems to be a united front from the usual journos on our side as well which helps. Seems we've finally learnt our lesson. Think the loss of Kante for a relative pittance has hardened the stance and quite rightly, too. We should let players go for our value, not the buying club's.
