Guest Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 A 3 game win streak and 8th position with 6 games to go. How many points and what position do you think we'll finish? Leicester Fixtures: A Huddersfield H Newcastle A West Ham H Arsenal A Man City H Chelsea The next 2 games are must wins, a championship team and then a low prem team at home, West Ham away is a hard one to call; I'd usually want a point but if we're looking at Europe 3 may be required. Then it's the last 3 games without knowing what these teams have to play for (in the prem and elsewhere). I think we can beat Arsenal and Chelsea at home but will have to accept not being able to do the double over Man City this season. Realistically we can get 8 or 9 points, but I'm going for 15. 52-59 pts Wolves fixtures: H Manchester Utd A Southampton H Brighton H Arsenal A Watford H Fulham A Liverpool Currently level with us on points A loss to Manchester and Liverpool but in between there are 15 points for the taking. They also have the FA Cup against Watford which could change their season and play – especially with a league game against Watford to go to. An easy 8 with a possible 15. 52 – 59pts Watford fixtures: H Fulham H Arsenal A Huddersfield H Southampton H Wolves A Chelsea H West Ham Currently 43pts and 1 behind us but with a game in hand and the easiest run-in. 13 points quite probable, 17 possible. 56 – 60pts. Everton fixtures; H Arsenal A Fulham H Manchester Utd A Crystal Palace H Burnley A Spurs I don't understand how Everton are even in the discussion, they have looked a terrible, terrible team every time I've watched them but they sit 1 point behind us with a favourable run-in. I don't like them and can see them getting as little as 4 points from their fixtures but I guess 13 is possible as the better teams are at home. 47 – 56pts For completeness I should put the West Ham fixtures: but they were so poor yesterday and in general I can't see them challenging for 7th. So hopefully Leicester Watford Wolves Everton West Ham But in all probability Watford Leicester/Wolves on Goal difference Everton West Ham So what do you think?
nwl fox Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Yeah looks to me like Watford have the easiest run in on paper, but hopefully the FA cup will be a sufficient distraction for them and Wolves for us to nick it. Not particularly concerned about Everton and West ham anymore as they are too inconsistent
Nicolo Barella Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 I can tell you exactly If you wait until the season's over

shailen Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 As great as our recent form has been - with it being out of our hands and having to still play 3 of the top 6 it's going to be difficult and we are going to need a lot of luck. 55 - 60 points is usually enough and so we need a minimum of 11 points which is 3 wins and 2 draws or 4 wins from 6 games. Really tough ask without playing any of the teams in contention really.
Nick Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 7th is a real possibility now. We’ll however be chasing Watford though 2 points behind as they’ll beat Fulham. I’m not sure Wolves have enough to beat Utd on Tuesday so they I think will remain where they are and it’ll be down to the run in to see if we can catch Watford and keep the others at bay. Fingers crossed ??

Wymsey Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Ideally: A Huddersfield - 3 points, clean sheet, very easy win. H Newcastle - 3 points, clean sheet, easy win. A West Ham - 3 points, narrow win. H Arsenal - Score draw. A Man City - Score draw. H Chelsea - 3 points, narrow win. In reality: Don't know with Leicester, containing a young squad.
David Hankey Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Another 14 points and wherever that takes us. I've been villified on these boards to suggest 7th spot so let's see what happens.

We'll lose against Huddersfield, Newcastle and West Ham.. Then beat Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

But would that be seen as progress under this manager or not at all? Considering that Puel had more decent results against the better quality sides, than he did against the lesser ones.

AyewJoking Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Huddersfield away...classic banana skin but we'll win the rest

leicesterseddon Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 I’ll be optimistic and say we can get 10 points from the remaining 18. 7th is possible but I can see us getting pipped to the post, probably by Watford. I get the feeling 7th won’t be a Europa League spot this year anyway...
volpeazzurro Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 I'll happily take 8th now if it gets us out of several meaningless preliminary rounds of a drab, financially unrewarding, meaningless and potentially damaging shit European competition for this year. I'd sooner us build and compete with a better and more exciting Premiership team next year with a good chance of a good run in the FA cup.

It is so annoying that we have thrown away two last minute draws against both Watford and Wolves. Both very avoidable and would have given us another 2pts and taken 2 away from both of those teams putting us in pole position for 7th. I think 9th.
whoareyaaa Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 7th is doable Wolves will not pick up that many more points now and neither will Watford if we can win the next 3 and nick a win in one of the last 3 we could get 7th. all ifs and buts though
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 I fear Andre Gray robbed us of Euro tour part 2.
reynard Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Won't be relevant unless Man City win the FA Cup. Hard to see many points from the last 3 matches and to win the next 3 would mean 6 wins on the bounce which doesn't happen that often in the Premier League.
kingcarr21 Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 I don't think we will finish 7th and tbh I'm not sure a European tour would be good for us at this moment. I think we need to build on our squad first. Look at replacing some of the players on our bench. Then again getting European football will entice players to the club so its a hard one. I suppose players like Iheanacho and Choudary would get more game time if we are involved in more competitions. Ive convinced myself that I'm not bothered where we finish this season, there are pros and cons to being in Europe. Saying that if we miss out by say 1 point I'm sure I will be devastated
Nalis Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 8pts and reckon we'll narrowly miss out, no shame in that when we were out of the mix about a month ago.
CosbehFox Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 I think we will need four from the home fixtures of Chelsea and Arsenal. That could be the decider and not to lose at West Ham. As for the Europa League, firstly I want it as a fan and also I think it would be good to test the extremities of our squad - if we get knocked out early, we do but can't help feeling it would be important seeing the likes of Amartey, Soysauce, Hamza, Kelechi, Ghezzal..some competitive game time in which Rodgers can get the measure of them.
