The Shaving/Razors Thread

Recommended Posts

Get yersen a double edge safety razor. Requires a slightly different technique than a Gillette but is really quick to get used to in reality. Not only do they look cooler but the cost of the replacement blades is so much cheaper. None of the gel foam strips in sight either which actually tend to irritate skin more than soothe. The only problem is, if you invest in a decent brush you might end up with a shaving soap/cream acquisition disorder as you find out about all the interesting products in the world of wet shaving - usually costing five times the price of the canned foam shite lol you wouldn't believe the collections of some of the wet shaving hobbyists out there - it's a whole new world!

I work in this industry so am happy to point people in the right direction if they've ever thought about picking one up (plus we need an Easter sales boost on the sites I look after ).

Wet shave head and chest every 2 days (or every day on holiday). Balls every four days. Beard trimmed every 3/4 days.

Great thread lol

We all know exactly what your chest looks like, Geoff. We've seen your Instagram.

Following the cringeworthy Gillette ad, I've decided to no longer use their razors. Opted for a generic alternative from my local supermarket.

It's a tough ask to evade Gillette completely, though. I've been a Braun fan for years and just recently had to replace my older electric shaver with a new one.

Unfortunately, Braun are owned by the same parent company as Gillette (Proctor & Gamble), and I'm not a big fan of Philips products.

I use razors mostly, but infrequently. Every couple of days or so, depending on how much the hair bothers me. Shaver for the upper lip part, hardly for anything else. Could grow a full beard, but that would take about three months or so. lol

haven't wet shaved face for millions of years because I look like I'm about 11 when I do.

maintain a general stubble using Philips beard-trimmer.

also keep armpits at sensible length and trim chest stomach hair down to a #5.

I shave my pubes down from a #2 at the top of my dick to a #5 towards the bottom of my stomach hair.

I clean wet shave my dick, balls and the bit underneath. I also like to keep the hair around my arsehole tidy too because shitting through lots of arse-hair - nah.

happy to help.

edit: use a fancy Gillette twisty head thing b2b king of shaves unless you want all your junk cut up. I left my decent razor and shave gel in a hotel room in Mandalay and then attempted to use the razor at the next hotel to shave my dick. not good. not good at all.

You think you've got it bad with periods, bikini waxes and all that, but this is what modern men have to go through :D

Impressive that we moved onto shaved arseholes without me even having to post. Congrats all.

No idea how people shave their arseholes. I need someone to do it for me, any takers?

Perhaps the dislocation of my shoulder and subsequent surgery has restricted my ability to move my arm into correct position.

On another note, i keep a short beard/stubble look which requires a weekly or biweekly touchup. Seeing as im balding on top the beard adds some much needed definition to my face.

Surprised none of you old bastards have talked much about shaving ear hair. Its as if balding leads to increase in ear hair. Is this because it sinks from your head downwards? Does this mean eventually my ass hair and pubes will be 2 feet long if left unattended?

Only this week got me a new trimmer after I broke a single tine on my most used plastic comb head of a Philips model so old they no longer make replacement parts. Went for Philips again because the self sharpening blades of my old one are still good, the comb is literally the only thing that needed replacing. Imagine my disappointment then when I realised the longest setting of my new one is far too short for how I like my head hair. lol

On the bright side all the different attachments means my beard and body hair game is stepping into a new league and it even has a nose trimmer to stop me whistling like an old man every time I take a deep breath.

Proper into my shaving routine. Currently using the old skool method of wet razor shaving( double edged razors)like your old grandad used to!!!

The brush, the lather, the pristine razorsharp blade!!!

No bloody Gillette sensor crap....close the door, concentrate take your time and feel the closeness of a true old style shave!!

One mistake though and your bathroom will be a dark maroon colour!!!

I had planned on avoiding this thread but since you tagged me i feel it only right i reply :P

Underarms and legs everytime i shower with some cheap bic razor from Wilkos.. Bikini-line and sides waxed before going on holiday else i also use the bic razor. Never had any bum hair and the thought of it is gross, i think i am lucky since i have quite fine blonde hair so shaving is not really too bad.

I like to see beards on men, i think most guys can ware them well especially the stubbly ones (although they make your chin red when kissing them if they too spikey)

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Veet or Nair for certain areas. These products may be mainly targetted at women, but work equally well on blokes. Another method, recommended for masochists, is plucking (or tweezing). Trichotillomania is the name of the mental disorder caused by obsessively plucking individual hairs.

Great thread lol

Why the fvck would you shave you balls unless you are either, a) a porn actor, or b) you have lice.

There must be frantic scratching after day 3.

Because sometimes you just want a good fondle without shaking a forest loose in your pants. Plus it makes you more aerodynamic.

I was going to reply to Daz but I was too busy wishing all men were as groomed

I'm lazier than @Suzie the Fox, I do my underarms every shower, but I will leave my legs longer in the winter when they're constantly under leggings. Bikini line is trimmed all the time, but always better on holidays. I've always been super glad not to be one of those women who has to contend with facial bleach  Oh and I hate beards on men, in fact any kind of stubble. It's prickly and horrible when kissing or cuddling close. Nothing beats a fabulously smooth freshly shaven man

I have a shortish beard which I tidy up a little round the edges every few days. Also give it a trim all over every fortnight or so with my phillips which has a beard attached similar to the clippers for your head. So much easier than proper shaving every other day or so.
