Premier League Thread 2019/20

"Other fans are doing exactly what we would have done.. They are ecstatic that lots of our fans aren’t happy with the appointment and are clinging onto that fact.... but deep down they are shitting themselves that we will become winners..

That’s exactly how I would have reacted if he went to a rival."

Some of their fans are fairly delusional. Maybe Arsenal and United fans are shitting themselves given the state of their respective clubs. But do you really think Liverpool or Man City fans are worried? If they win something, good for them, people don't particularly care. Jose has won things at every club, but also then left them in a complete mess.

Would have been more happy if they kept Poch just because it would mean less chance them getting near us. Mourinho could do really well and get them up the table.

He'll demand money to spend which is what Poch neve got though

If Mourinho can beat our rivals that’s fine by me.

Trouble is the man is a proven winner and wins trophies regardless.

I like Mourinho and certainly didn't want him returning to a club I don't like.

Yes but really his last 3 jobs were Man United, Real Madrid and Chelsea (round 2) 3 clubs with almost unlimited resources and he won

1 PL (14/15)

2 league cups

1 La Liga (10/11)

and 1 Europa League

On paper that’s a lot. And yes probably more than Spurs have in their history, but when you look at the money he has spent and the resources at his disposal I would call it average at best.

When he first came to Chelsea, he was fresh and had new ideas and cleaned up. Now, not sure he can bring together a team of players who don’t want to be there, especially when he won’t have the money to spend he hadn’t at those 3 previous clubs.

They won't win nothing? So, they will I'm fact win something? Normally I'd called that bad English but I reckon he's just really keen to make the point that Spurs might finally win something

He must have been promised a huge amount of cash and this is a dangerous situation for a club like leicester.

They'll now be able to take our targets as they are another viable attractive option and maybe our players.

His budget will be huge. January will be interesting.

Not dangerous for us at all. They’re currently sat bottom half of the table, if they get to a point where they’re overtaking us it’ll be through our own failure to get points.

As for taking our players, they’re no more attractive an option than they were under Poch, possibly even less so.

This is what you're going to need to be looking at. €466.5million, Spurs is in need of a rebuild just like United.

Theres a huge difference though. There is pressure to win league titles and the most prestigious trophies at Man utd, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter. He wont have that pressure at spurs. If he wins them a league/F.A cup they'll lose their shit over how incredible he is. He has room to work and doesnt need to try and get in a quick fix.

I hope I'm wrong and he does terribly because its spurs. But I cant see it going that badly.

Daniel “every penny a prisoner” Levy will still select the signings and , he’s not going to give JM the sort of leeway he will demand . This is going to end badly ( I hope)

He will not be able to buy success , couldn't do it with Chelsea or Utd. He does need another creative midfielder, can't just rely on Ericson otherwise there is nothing wrong with his squad . The out of contract players may well decide to stay. The days of big spending are over in my opinion , the Neymar and Coutinho fiascos have shown that. They will improve their results ,no doubt but they are no threat to us.

New boss, worse than the old boss...

(It's a misquote from an old song, for those under 50...)

Won't get fooled again? - remains to be seen..,

Have to say think it's a clever move by Tottenham. Not so much for the football (think the game's moved on a bit from Jose's pragmatic approach) but in terms of profile and belief he's bound to give the place a lift.

Serial loser (who'd clearly had enough of Levy) replaced by serial winner (whatever you think of his recent record).

Don't like to say it, but I think Spurs will move quickly up the table.

I reckon Kane leaves in the summer with everyone else that's planning to (those running down their contracts). It's his best chance of winning a trophy to get away from a Mourinho-esque team. Look at Lukaku under him at Old Trafford. Much better playing in a more offensive team now (and even then that's under Conte).

Fancy Kane to go to Man City when Aguero leaves. Or Real if Benzema goes.
