Matt Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 Are Liverpool fans seriously chanting "VAR, VAR, VAR" as they would "Liverpool, Liverpool, Livepool"
Stuntman_Mike Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 The whole VAR set up is a mess, it's just ten times worse because football fans are so bias on their opinions. I really hope it changes next season.
Countryfox Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 Gotta say @The Bear your boys have put in a good performance today .. 1

This is nothing to do with technology, it's accurate. Basically every offside decision I've seen this year has been accurate. I don't gives flying shit if someone is offside by a millimetre or not, there has to be a cut off somewhere. If you're off, you're off, whether you're off by a pixel or by ten metres. It doesn't matter. There has to be a threshold somewhere. Jonny WAS off. If you insist there has to be daylight, for example, you still have to have a cut off somewhere so it ends up being daylight by a pixel or whatever. All people are getting angry about this season is, stupidly, accuracy. You're getting upset at decisions being rightly given that are close. That's retarded. Last season you had decisions going wrong when there was miles off or onside. What do you prefer!? I love a rant about VAR favouring Liverpool as much as anyone but put your bias away a second. Lallana did hit his shoulder and Jonny was marginally off. Personally I’d have it changed to if the lines they use touch or overlap then it’s onside. They could even reduce the thickness of the lines if they want. Something has to change though because it is ridiculous. Edited 29 December 2019 by Wet Trump 1

What are we dealing with at the moment with var, still 25fps? So 0.04 seconds each frame. That's a lot of time when you are talking millimeters for offsides. That’s also true. Hi frame rate cameras both pitch level and elevated either side of the field - both stationary and moving on tracks. Do that properly and you could actually do it to that degree in theory
Nuge Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 These decisions are so marginal that it’s impossible to make a correct decision so the officials are making a decision based on their opinion and agenda bias. This is a farce. It’s making a mockery of the game and any opponent who Liverpool face.
Countryfox Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 Would have been interesting to see this pool team playing against the Citeh team of a season or two ago when they were in their pomp ... hard to call.
Hammo Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 I thought VAR was introduced to eliminate discussion not provoke it. Theoretically it is a good idea. In practice, because of the way it is being implemented, it is proving to be a disaster. Unless, of course, you support a club that hasn’t won the title for 30 years...

That’s the problem. You do know Stockley Park uses sophisticated computers and multiple camera angles, the line you see are 3D modelled, not from one dodgy camera angle that you’re proposing! That’s not the problem!

And nothing in the game used to piss me off more than seeing some cheating fooker who wasn’t even touched rolling around like he had been hit with a baseball bat ... It still hasn’t stopped people falling over in the box though.

The lines across the width of the pitch can be drawn accurately if the lines cut into the grass are level. I do agree that it could feasibly be open to corruption whenever it's a close call, though.
Fox42 Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 I’m liking the look of Vinagre down the left for Wolves. Playing with no fear.
Sly Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 I really hope Wolves get something from this game.
inckley fox Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 My take, in spite of the commentators not focusing on it, was that they were angrier about the VVD 'handball' in the build-up. And the issue with VAR is more how it selectively and forensically analyses goals. Why is an incorrectly given corner not a big deal, but a toe off-side is? Not to mention how VAR has highlighted a lack of consensus among our officials over the correct interpretation of the rules. I'm all for VAR, but we had to deal with these things before we put all our eggs in that basket. And of course the moment of the ball hitting the back of the net and the ref pointing to the circle is sacred. To detract from that is appalling. The trick is simple. Use VAR in the way that least interferes with the spectacle. Goalline technology? Easy. Corners, red cards, penalties? Easy. Handballs? simplify the rules, revoke the recent changes, and there'll be no problem. Off-sides? Until we can honestly say that VAR won't damage the spectacle, you encourage refs to make the call, and only indicate for VAR instead of for a goal if they feel they need help. If that finger points to the centre circle, it has to be a goal. If it isn't, you'll massively damage the game at its core, which is as a sport, and as a form of entertainment. The frustration largely stems from this one central issue. 3

Sly Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 Wolves have approached this game, so much better than we did. 1
Hammo Posted 29 December 2019 Posted 29 December 2019 That ‘We are Liverpool. This means more’ slogan that keeps coming up on the ad hoardings sums up the contemptible arrogance of the club. 2
