treer Posted 4 June 2019 Posted 4 June 2019 The odds offered are are a rip off, they prey on football fans hopes, and should be outlawed. Take for example Maquire, their odds suggest that Harry is around 1/8 to leave leicester when you add their offers, may well leave, but where are their odds to stay? Take for example Chillwell, their odds suggest that Ben is around 1/4 to leave leicester when you add their offers, may well leave, but where are their odds to stay? They are preying on the guillable, and in many spheres of life, targeting as such as this would be a criminal offence. 1
brucey Posted 4 June 2019 Posted 4 June 2019 They removed their staying odds because it was a consistent loss maker for them and the few other bookies who offered it. On the other hand their profit margins on players moving are massive because of how often deals fall through and how susceptible football fans are to any transfer window rumour.

They are being clever by removing ‘stay at current club’ and I wonder if this is indeed potentially against the law ? It’s certainly against the spirit of the law and I suspect a judge may well decide it is whilst a lawyer would advise its ok as the law is written ....... anyone with a spare couple million and time on their hands could take the case on ........

They 100% use Sky Sports News to plant false stories and fiddle with the odds on the back of that. A massive conflict of interest which shouldn't be allowed, imo. Obviously the likes of Paddy Power and Bet365 have news arms which do a similar thing but these are more like amateur blogs, read by one man and his dog whereas Sky Sports News is part of a multi billion pound media corporation. Their odds are always shite as well. Avoid. Edited 5 June 2019 by Danizen 1

Shouldn't a non transfer be treated as a non runner in a horse race in that case (without rule 4)?

They aren't obliged legally to offer all potential outcomes on any bet. They were actually the exception for a few years as most bookies had never even offered the staying option.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 How the same company can circulate rumours based on nothing and then take bets on those rumours disgusts me. 1

This is something people should consider really before they bet on it. I've not bothered at all this summer simply because they've removed the "to stay at X club" option. The prices on it used to be excellent. The whole thing's a bit farcical really. Not surprised they have removed it. 1
yorkie1999 Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 Bookies preying on the gullible! I've heard it all now. 1
filbertway Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 If you don't like the odds then don't take them, it's that simple. Something like this comes up every time there's a transfer window People crying about bookies odds/markets make no sense to me. They're not obliged to offer any particular markets or prices. It's up to the punter to decide if the bookie is offering good value on a market.
KrefelderFox666 Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 Have you not heard of all the charitable donations betting companies dish out. They are also in the Top 10 employers in the UK when it comes to looking after their employees.
Leeds Fox Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 They’ll put a ‘To Stay’ market on if they think the player is moving.
Chrysalis Posted 5 June 2019 Posted 5 June 2019 yeah I was wondering where the stay at leics odds went. In previous years people would talk about players moving away saying X club is favourite, then I would check the stay at club odds which were always vastly shorter showing the truth which is the moving away stuff was usually just rumours. But now these odds have seem to gone poof. So when looking at maguire etc. you would think they certainties to leave.
