The big clubs ARE fuching knocking. Can’t you hear them?

One crappy link? No way we are letting him go this window, but if he continues to play this well then next summer could be a different story :sweating:

If it was just Ricardo then yeah - but it isn’t. The knocking will get louder as the window starts to shut. Next season it will be deafening.

With the amount of top clubs supposedly after our players just makes me even more excited for next season if we can keep hold of them. No reason why we can't finish top 6 with clubs of that calibre and better after our players.

I think he is another one that will give us 1 more year but after that, the likes of him, Maddison, Chilwell, Maguire etc, may all be pushing for a move as the big clubs come knocking! Hopefully we have a real breakthrough season with them and can get that top 6 spot, although even then it may be hard to prevent them from some big moves. We will no doubt be paid lots for these types of players, but the rebuilding job would be substantial, so I just hope we can keep as many here as possible.

Do you think we can ever be that big club where the players don't want to go anywhere else and are happy to stick with us?

I think participation in the Champions League is the key to holding onto top performing players, and unfortunately I think we will always be priced out of that in terms of the financial clout the big teams have year on year. I personally think 6th is our limit unless a number of the top teams have wobbles one season and we are absolutely on it.

Holding onto our best players is going to be an ongoing issue in our pursuit of breaking the top 6, and we are going to have to learn to have ready made replacements coming through or be able to buy smartly when we are forced to sell, as otherwise we could struggle to maintain that consistent push.

Luckily we are being regarded as a bigger club in our own right and certainly have some financial clout of our own these days, so although our best players will always be a struggle to tie down when the big 6 or Europe elite come knocking, we are certainly now capable of picking up the best emerging talent from the championship and lower prem and even a more attractive proposition than some of the old European heavy weights when searching abroad!

I also think we will be able to keep this squad in tact for this upcoming season which is exciting! It's next summer I worry about, but that's a long way off yet

The only surprise in this is that it's taken so long for a big club to be linked.

Totally agree. All of the other players people want to buy are inconsistent. Ricardo plays at a high level every week and can play multiple positions.

Of the youngsters only Chilwell is near the same level of consistency and he didn’t put up the same numbers in terms of assists, goals and tackles.

Riccy could be the first choice right back for anyone other than Liverpool IMO. Top quality player!

Sell them all, sell the ground, fold the club and give season ticket holders 30,000 each.

Imagine this place if that happened, non season ticket holders kicking off how it’s not fair as they couldn’t get a season ticket/had one for years when we were crap but couldn’t afford it now, priority 1 away fans claiming they should get 60000k because they’re  bigger fans and stand all game and members claiming that they should go in a  priority based ballot for their share.

So far this transfer window we have had (apparent) links stating:

Maguire - wanted

Maddison - wanted

Chilwell - wanted

Perreira - wanted

Barnes - wanted

How in gods name did we only finish 9th.

just waiting for a link for Ndidi and that’s more than half of our starting 11.

They can all be wanted but they're all on long contracts and we don't really have to start thinking of having to sell for two seasons. The club can play hardball. IF they however decided to sell Maguire and topped the transfer kitty up to say 100m for 3 quality players, that may just be enough to get us to European football of some description and Champions League the year after? We're suddenly a more exciting and viable proposition for incoming players. This transfer window is key and has to be brave but sensible.

Personally can’t wait until I see a thread saying Vardy linked with Real Madrid or Everton.

Still think that Ric is massively underrated outside of Leicester. It's quite incredible that he didn't even get a place in the squad, let alone the team, for Portugal after his performances last season. Probably a good thing for us, though, as the more exposure he gets the more chance a massive club will be in for him.

Having a good season for a team that finished 9th makes me think that a lot of the bigger clubs will wait for one more year to see if he can replicate it in a (hopefully) more successful season.

Again, we're in the golden era of extortionate transfer fees and it will take an absolute fortune for anyone to have him, which will only increase if the above happens. Up the city!
