Ngl Ric if Perez was playing in his native homeland instead of here we'd probably have had about 20 essays and 3 highlight reels from you pushing for us to sign him lol

I’m surprised the mods have actually let this continue so long considering they are quite quick to end other threads when they reach a dead end

And that comment is quite an instructive one on the nature of why that might be, and to be empathetic, the difficulty of moderating.

Can we stop talking about this loser, now that we got lookman, hope we never see him again

No!

Lookman has been brought in to cover Barnes.

Albrighton is already covering Ayoze who is ‘undroppable’.

He is destined to be our right sided forward for the next twelve  years until he decides to retire, at the age of 40, having broken Graham Cross’s appearance record.

This thread will still be going having reached its 10,000th page

…. many years later his ancestors will discover photos, in his personal belongings, of Brendan Rodgers, Susan Whelan and a Shetland pony - in some rather compromising positions

Can we end this thread?

What would be the point.  Perez appears in so many other threads he's almost omnipresent on FT.

If we were talking about the weather AP would crop up.  In fact I've already been blaming him for the rain we had last week.

But as Ric has pointed out above you, he's crap in his supposed preferred position.

You'd say that his great strength is his defending from the front which looks great on paper, stats wise. But he has absolutely 0 tenacity and the solidity of a paper towel, so he can win the ball back but then he'll just lose it again.

Wouldn't be so bad if he was a squad player designed to do the attacking equivalent of Amartey and cover several positions but when he's the first choice right sided forward and first back up for the 10 role, it's shocking. He's so far below the level we need and that's where the issue is.

Alright.

Perez is not a winger. He's being played out of position.

Ric and others think he's crap even when played in position.

Brendan rates Perez. Brendan has some dogged Perez-on-the-wing tactic.

I think that sums things up.

This place is turning into a weird and creepy anti-Perez cult.

You pronounce that like it's fact.  Twice.   It's your interpretation, certainly not mine and I would never describe AP as 'dogged'.  Far from it.  You could just as easily interpret it that Rodger's has put £30m worth of eggs in Perez' basket and has to make do with what he has.

When Perez plays on the right, "he's not a winger"

When he plays as an attacking midfielder, "he's a striker"

When he plays as a striker, "he's out of position".

He's neither creative or quick enough to be a mainstay in any of those positions unfortunately. We bought him as a hardworking goal threat and without the goals all that remains is a lot of running around. There's enough PL players that have been successful without being particularly quick but usually they're really crafty types - Perez has as much creativity as a wheelie bin.

The tactic is dogged. Brendan persists with it.

It's fairly reasonable to say Brendan rates the players he chooses to play in his chosen tactic.

Omnipresent because he’s an omnishambles

I just assume you're taking the piss but "Dogged: Stubbornly persevering; tenacious."

Foggy with consistent drizzle would sum his performances up.

I took it as a negative assessment of how Rodgers sets up the side but genuinely think it’s fine?

I might have mistook it wrong.

Nah. Just that Rodgers is determined to play like that and play Perez like that. Fair enough if you don’t like it. But it’s deliberate now and was deliberate before. I’d rather squint and try to understand what Rodger’s is doing than fire the 14,000,001st round of ammunition into Perez.

To be honest for all the Perez haters out there you all need to see the bigger picture

if BR plays him you should as fans support his decisions and back not only the team but the individual players too

booing and slating decisions on or off the pitch is not what the fans should be about

if we was battling relegation year in year out then I could understand your annoyance !
like I said before he ain’t the most talented player I have seen down there but he comes no where near the worse I have witnessed.

do I think he should play week in week out.  Nahh do I boo or slate him when he does play ? Absolutely not

try supporting and not hating  life becomes less bitter that way

I see this as both evidence of his value...and also of our inability to create chances at the moment 😅
