Pretty sure we wont be seeing Perez in a Leicester shirt again (well, for a long while, anyway - probably the inevitable end-of-season injury crisis) as surely one of Kelechi or KDH or Daka or Soumare will take the opportunity to make that slot their own.

While he is a liability when taking the ball back to goal and holding off an incoming challenge... I will say that it was shocking that kasper thought it a good idea to pass to ayoze in that position.  We lose the ball there and it's a goal.

.....Perez was out of control when he attempted to challenge for the ball, there was ample space to plant his left leg between the ball and the man!!!

The fact that he (Perez) was unable to control his actions makes him liable for the outcome.

I agree - he chose to attempt to shield the ball when he wasn’t able to control his gait due to being off balance from the push. He moved his leg to the left to do this when he didn’t have to. Every player is responsible for the well being of their opponent. By choosing to shield the ball he was taking a chance that his opponent wouldn’t have his leg in the wrong place. Unfortunately for ayo, he lost the gamble.  A few years ago it would have been seen as an accident and a yellow.  Nowadays it is a red.

Based on what? BR clearly loves him, he wouldn't be the first player to go straight back in after a red card ban? Unless his replacement (IMO will be Albrighton straight switch) set's the world alight (although Nacho did and he still got dropped) I think all the evidence points to Perez going straight back into the team?

I hope Brendan keeps the faith with him. I think we play some of our best stuff when him, Youri and Ricardo are on it down that right hand side.

Really frustrating because he's the one guy you want to be confident at the moment to try and raise his game and the unfortunate red won't have done him any good in that regard. Don't get me wrong, we need an extra option to give us a bit more pace or directness from time to time but hopefully he comes back stronger and ready to go.

Might do him some good not being the scapegoat for a few games and being eased back in after, much like when he had that period before he came back in vs Sheff U away last season and played well.

If he hadn't have been unlucky with the red and carried on the second half as he played the first we would probably all be saying that he had put in a decent display.

He's a decent Premier League forward player but it's obvious he's no Barnes etc.

Bottom line is, he doesn’t contribute enough to the team. Brendan clearly loves him, and that’s that. Close thread

I think Brendan believes he’s the best option for the squad we have and the way we play and I’d probably agree, just.

Says more about our wide options rather than Brendan’s tactics though.

No chance, he'll come straight back into the team within two games upon his return.

just one lacking confidence for an extended period of time.

Hardly surprising really, how many players have had a 150+ page thread while being a player at the club with 95% of the content saying how much people dislike him

Hope Perez makes good use of his time out to reflect and prove us fans wrong. He knows only action will change perception.

He's just not very good I'm afraid.

I literally see a response like this every couple pages in this thread.

Makes me chuckle every time lol

He's limited, granted, and we want more, expect more, but are we willing to throw money at it to sort it?

Probably not judging by the fact that we keep having to splash out on centre halves and other defenders. Real quality tends to cost real money and whilst we've generally done well in the transfer market we're still basically a Tielemans injury or sale away from virtually no creativity if Maddison continues to be as poor as he has been for months now.

Perez is what he is and it isn't his fault we grossly overpaid for him but he's not likely to improve either at his age.

Defining Perez's Leicester career in that moment, is about as accurate as defining Vardy's with the poor pass/touch for the first goal last night.

But I'm not blaming Ayoze.

It's clear it hasn't been working for him in that role....And still Rodgers decides to play him there.

Rodgers is the one who should be criticized for constantly picking an underperforming player when he have so many other options, both in terms of personnel and systems.

Absolutely. Perez is what he is, an average player out of his depth here. Its Brendan's fault that he keeps pushing him at the deep end expecting him to swim.

When we signed him, it came out of the blue, and I was thinking why have we signed him. At the time we were probably looking at someone to replace the number 9 legend, but it was obvious that Perez was not the man, so why fritter away £30m? I would argue that he is a bigger waste of money than Slimani

This man had the audacity to claim he had hopes of getting called up for the Spanish team when we signed him.

Did he specify which sport?
