One of my mates lived in Dubrovnik for 6 months and said it didnt feel 'real',  felt like a tv set or a town solely set up for tourists. That could just be his opinion tho, was going to go in 2015 but went to Split/Hvar instead and was happy enough with that.

 

Would still like to go to Dubrovnik someday though to see for myself, maybe coming in from Montenegro or something.

To answer the question though, any destination where there is nothing else to do but sit on a beach reading. Sounds like such a boring way to drain your life away on the limited free time you get outside of the day to day routine of life

Oh yeah, London is far from perfect but it has history and character which is something that I love about cities and why I love Rome, Edinburgh, York etc. It is has a myriad of different areas and things to do for virtually all interests, whereas Dubai seems to cater for a particular group of people. 

 

As I said initially, I've not been to Dubai so I could be missing it's charm.

South Tyrol in Northern Italy is fantastic. Although, it's very different from the rest of Italy - German is the most commonly spoken language. The Dolomites are tremendous and the wine is decent.

3. Dubai - This is one where I've never been to and have no desire whatsoever to go. Just everything about it is my idea of hell, over commercialised, capitalist, trendy, animal rights abusing crap. I'm sure there are parts that are stunning - but I don't think I'll ever make the trip.

Dublin - Whats the appeal, besides the Guinness factory? - i don't even like Guinness so i can't see any reason to go there at all.

 

New York - Just a city full of skyscrapers, arrogant locals and more McDonalds than any other City in the world.

 

Las Vegas - I've had gambling problems in the past so that place would be hell on earth for me!

 

 

 

There's a lot of hate for Dubai in this thread but i absolutely loved the place. I've never felt safer and more welcome than i did walking around Dubai. A lot of the horror stories you hear about in the news about Brits being arrested for seemingly trivial things are blown well out of proportion by the media. Someone on here mentioned the Brit who faced prison time for "accidentally brushing up against a man in a bar". I was in working Dubai just a few weeks after that incident, and i was told by my multinational colleagues that the man was off his face, verbally abusing and threatening staff and customers at the bar leading up to the incident. None of this made it to print in the right wing media over here because it wouldn't fit with their anti-middle eastern agenda.

Tbh, mate (and I'll get shit for saying this, no doubt) it's been ruined by the Brit tourists, same as many other places in Europe.

That's true, lived in London for 8 years now and i'm still learning something new every week about the history, culture, traditions etc. Finding new local pubs and places to keep the mind fresh. Although i hate the stinking hovel and the quality of life here with a passion, can't deny that.

 

Charm and Dubai is not something i'd put together, just find the place very very fun. If you act the fool and get horrendously drunk, throw up everywhere, fight, scream, be a t**t, you'll be severely dealt with. If you go out and want a very good time and are capable of behaving it's great. I like that, i wish it were like that in England.

Milan was definitely underwhelming, visit to San Siro being an exception but even that is a shithole.

 

Never been one for 'lads' holidays in Magaluf or anywhere like that. Not my thing at all.

 

It has to be really bad for me to not like a place though, can usually find enough to have a reasonable time, just won't head back. I'm not the best traveller though and do sometimes fall into the tourist traps, English bars etc more than I'd like to.

I loved Copenhagen tbh. Shame the bars and restaurants weren't cheaper because so many of them were great.

Not had the pleasure of Dubai. 

 

For me, I'd say Madrid. Didn't really get it? Few nice bars etc, but didn't seem to be an awful lot going on to me? Especially if you compare it against other cities that have similar reputations such as Barcelona, Budapest and Porto. 

Madrid is a cracking city but I don’t think you can compare it to them three. 

 

i’ve been 4 times through work/football/pleasure and really enjoyed it.

 

I can’t say I have got a burning desire to go to Dubai if I’m honest, pretty sure they would want to chop my cock off which is a bit of a downside.

 

India is somewhere I will probably go to at some point but from what I see/ hear of places like Mumbai that really puts me off.

I think the thing with London, maybe easy to say as an Englishman, rather than a tourist...if you really dig and explore you can find incredible things. 

 

When i go for footy (this might sound very twee) but me and my friend have often been trying different restaurants/cuisines we wouldn’t. Post Palace 5-0, I was in Brixton market seeing off a Colombian Mixed Grill.
