koop. Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Madders would have had 2 or 3 first half if not for their keeper

GingerrrFox Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 He’ll always be decent but he’s not gonna push it to the next level because he’s not a big game player. Don’t get me wrong, James Maddison is a fantastic footballer but if you were to ask me who I would want on my team in a winner takes all game between Grealish and Maddison, I’m taking Grealish every time. Grealish is a winner and comes good in big games. Maddison doesn’t have that mental ability, he’s missed numerous penalties, he’s gone missing in big games at times and isn’t clinical enough to get the ball in the net when it matters. He’s a quality player and we are lucky to have him, but with a choice, I’d swap him for Grealish in a heartbeat.

ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 can’t believe he had 7 shots off target, from some of the positions as well. keep the fu cking ball down mate.

VLC86 Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 It might be an overreaction but I’m starting to think Grealish is actually better than Maddison. Carries the ball much better, more direct and better defensively.

Guest Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Thought he had a good enough game overall but his finishing across the two legs was horrid. For someone who can strike the ball so well he really can be incredibly wasteful
VLC86 Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Just now, Dr The Singh said: Same. Madders needs more end product, or clinical with the final pass Too predictable as well and although both dive it really really pisses me off.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 I don't get this obsession with declaring either better than the other, they're both fantastic players and it'd be great to see them in the same team. They're very different players playing in very different teams
mod hero Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Must say I’m surprised at these comments, Youri next to him was shambolic. Madders looked a threat and I’m struggling to think of anyone else who played better for us?
frany104 Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 I thought Maddison was probably our outstanding player tonight. His finishing second half was off but without him we don’t have any creativity. He needs a midfield partner who can create too. It would give him more space to work in.

Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Let's be objective. Grealish has looked the better player over the two legs really. United should definitely buy Grealish.
Corky Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Maddison has had a very good season, tonight was one of his games where he seems to be trying to shoot at every opportunity rather than assess the situation. Grealish is not twice the player he is, Maddison has still been very effective and as Scouse says, is a marked player usually. He needs to cut out the going to ground, needs to consider his options more at times but when he's on form we're a much better team.

That’s fair, I just don’t think Maddison would have the same impact in their team but we will never know.

LeeTheFox Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 I think Maddison had a good game and was definitely one of our best players tonight but his finishing just lacks so much it’s like he tries to make everything look good rather than just hitting it, I really hope that changes.
Sampson Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 I'm surprised people are picking on him of all players tonight. He looked about our only player who really wanted it. You can forgive some bad shots, you cant forgive some of the hiding some of the other players did tonight.
Gerard Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 After reading some of the comments on here I couldn’t blame Maddison for walking out at the first opportunity, some of our fans are pathetic. I wonder if Villa have a similar percentage of bellends who give Grealish shit every time Villa don’t win a match? The people giving Maddison shit are probably the same ones who hated on Mahrez and criticised him for leaving. I can see why Mahrez left now as the fans didn’t deserve him. i don’t blame players for not giving a club loyalty with the treatment they get off some fans. Loyalty is a two wAy street.
AjcW Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Giving Madders shit is pretty hilarious he’s a keeper having a worldie away from being on the front page tomorrow! One thing I’ve not seen enough of this season is the gaffer getting stick, we wouldn’t be in this position if he hasn’t gone full mental with the tactics in the first leg. He also picked the wrong Belgian in midfield today, Praet is probably our most in form player in the last month! Similarly Cags was knackered because for some reason he played Saturday!! He’s worked wonders yes. But some of the decision making over the last month has been baffling. And the lack of desire to add much needed bodies this month could damage us over the next few months! Don’t just criticise players, there’s fault elsewhere too at present; and it’s probably just a blip!
