Lesta Legend Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Due to sign a new contract according to Percy.
Guest SO1 Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Something positive!... and here I was thinking this was the next player up in the circular firing squad that this forum has become.
theessexfox Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Well deserved, whatever you say about his form in our ‘rough patch’ he never hides away and always wants to take responsibility on the pitch, he’s got a way to go to fulfil his potential but he’s stepped up nicely this year and he’s a top player.
ALC Fox Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Nice! Hopefully he has an absolute stormer against Wolves. When it clicks for him he's as good as anyone in his position in the league. He just needs to hit the target a bit more when he pulls the trigger. A classy player who is still really young with a lot of room to improve. If our young players continue on their current trajectory, we're going to have a very, very strong team in a couple of years.
Wymsey Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Wouldn't really classify Arsenal and Man United as 'rival' clubs, especially their gradual downfalls in more recent times.

In fact he’s third in our entire squad behind Wilf and Ricardo who are 1st and 2nd in the entire league. X .. its always strange to hear his stats!! Just that when you watch him you do not see anything to justify those figures. You see him pull out of challenges, no aspect of his game says "brave" yet stats come out like that.. weird?

It's part of his game he's improved. He definitely puts himself out there a bit more. Way more than he would under Puel or towards end of last season. You don't have to be 'brave' to make tackles. If you do it well and time it right you don't have to be the strongest player on the pitch physically to get the tackles in. Maddison's tracking back or pressuring in the middle of the pitch has not gone unnoticed, not from me anyway! I like it though. It's clearly an area Rodgers has identified for him to improve in and he's taken it on board and it's for the better for the team, not just himself.

Shouldn't he be undertaking the Arsenal fans' Twitter pasttime of looking for tweets from a player when they were 12 to get offended by? Gooner27OiOi and AubaLacaPepe4eva can't do it all on their own.
Guest An Sionnach Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 All the England crap damaged his form but its coming back now and just at the right time for us .
LestaAl Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 New contract...... ....he’ll be gone by the end of the summer for a stonking fee.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 February 2020 Posted 3 February 2020 Great for the club. He stays, great, he leaves, then it's for an astronomical fee. Win win.
Guybino Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 That's great news and a big "piss off" to my arrogant Yanited friends. Keep our great squad together and we will only improve (even more) over time!
StriderHiryu Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 Maddison is ****ing class, and I don't know why he gets so much flak on here sometimes. The way he can turn with the ball, create, pass and pull out magic from nowhere is pheonmenal and hasn't been seen in an English player since LeTissier / Gascoigne. Have you guys tried doing the things Maddison can do? Surrounded on all sides by opponents, he can turn with the ball and shimmy his feet to engineer space out of nowhere, opening his body up and turning a high press into a creative opportunity for Leicester. That is a Zidane-esque ability from a 23 year old player playing in only his second Premier league season. I cannot stress enough how impressive the things this guy does every week, making it look easy when it's one of the hardest things to do in football. There isn't another English player in the country that can do what he can do, and very few foriegn players can do it either. The ceiling on this player's potential is almost limitless. I am sure Rodgers has realised that, as have the club and he is going to be the next player we build the team around now that Vardy is getting to the tail end of his career. Ricardo would be the player I would prioritise getting a new contract first, just because he the player in our team that is most consistently good. But I get why Maddison is up first, his value with the new contract will easily be over 100m. If Southgate wasn't such a coward, he'd already have Maddison in the hole and building the team around him. 4231 with Kane up top, Maddison in the pocket, Sancho and Sterling on the wings with Henderson and someone else (Winks?) as the double pivot. That would IMO be capable of winning a major tournament. Maddison would create so much. I look forward to seeing this player continue to develop over the next few years. An absolute class act on and off the pitch. And he's ours!
Nicolo Barella Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 He's absolutely stepped up this year and has been our most consistent midfielder after Ndidi this year, not to mention his defensive improvement. He is very adaptable as well, he's shown he can play very deep and very advanced on the pitch, it's encouraging to see. Excellent player and crucial to get tied down.
st albans fox Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 It’s very un nerving to see a thread about one of our players without any negative posts ..... surely some of you can do better than that!!!

You are correct,Mahrez, Maguire and ultimately Maddison......big new long term contract, sold 6 months later for an even bigger longer term contract.....at least our club see what’s coming, many don’t, our transfer income/policy does put us well ahead of anyone outside the top ten and tbf generally we sign well
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 Grealish is Man Utds number one target in the summer.

I dont think they will be alone though everyone in the top 4 + others around the world would want him as well i would have thought.
Dahnsouff Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 Sounds like he is close to signing his new contract?
Xen Posted 4 February 2020 Posted 4 February 2020 1 hour ago, Abrasive fox said: Grealish is Man Utds number one target in the summer. Makes sense. Obviously most on here think Maddison is better, but to outsiders it's probably pretty even between them. With Maddison, he'll possibly be playing for a CL club by the summer, at a fairly wealthy club on an upward trend, no release clause, and Man Utd know that LCFC are a particularly difficult club to prise players away from. Whereas Grealish could be looking at Championship football next season, and plays for a side which have spent a fair chunk so may well need to sell to balance their books. No idea about a release clause, but wouldn't surprise me if there was one - especially if they do get relegated. Similar players but one would be much more attainable for a semi-reasonable fee. Man Utd don't have the best approach on transfers (understatement...) but even they will know which one is the better target.
