fox in the sox Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 It is 25 years since we beat Derby County in the play-off final. I was wondering what happened to the likes of Gavin Ward, Jimmy Willis, Mike Whitlow and Julian Joachim? It would be nice for some of these players to be introduced to the fans on matchdays.

Some say that Joachim lives in a Leicester council flat next door to a bloke that wears a Welsh man's hat.
Tuna Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 I think Jimmy Willis became a cabbie in Liverpool. Joachim still plays and coaches with Bourne Town at 45 (in the ex players thread). Whitlow went into coaching with Burton Albion don't know if he's still there.
Babylon Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 I see Joachim in Syston most weeks, although I heard he might be moving go play in Cyprus or somewhere like that.

Ric Flair Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Joachim was a frightening prospect those first couple of years, imagine him now playing on the right off Vardy. WOW
HEGGSY Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Sure Joachim is playing for Europa FC in Gibraltar, but I often see him about in Thurmaston/Syston. Coming in and out the bookies, think he’s got a gambling problem so many say.
Anglodanglo Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Ian Ormondroyd - Works as stunt double on Peter Crouch's carphone warehouse adverts

He’s just signed for Bourne Town in Lincolnshire. www.stamfordmercury.co.uk/sport/amp/former-premier-league-striker-joachim-ready-to-make-bourne-bow-9084963/

WOW I swear he had enough talent to play for England. One of the few Leicester players who really got me out of my seat. That goal away at Barnsley - wow. I guess he got distracted with off the field stuff and never really reached his potential for me. A real prospect as you say and total natural ability.

Yeah, that goal vs Barnsley and another vs Spurs both with the outside of the right boot, exceptional. Who does that? Roberto Carlos aside.

Even with all thats happened since, that night at Barnsley with Julian's goal still stands out as my most memorable away day...even though we lost i remember everything about that night, feeble excuse to get out of school early, was still a time when the FA Cup meant something, crisp cold night, Oakwell was rammed, away end absolute carnage after Joachim's goal, Barnsley's leveller was tasty too, not home until about 2am yet still up for school with programme in hand to show off to my mates. Crazy with the success we have now had and how good we currently are that id still give anything for a few proper nights like that again.

Jimmy Willis was certainly a cabbie in Liverpool in May 2000, because he gave a couple of my friends a ride in his cab to Anfield when we won 2-0 that day. Cottee and Gilchrist sealed a routine win👍
The whole world smiles Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Lol the man united class of 92 won 8 leauge titles, 2 champions Leagues and 10 other cup competitions. I'm not sure our 94 squad which lost 2 play off finals before winning one and getting relegated and had Ian Olmondroyd in it! deserves the "class of" nickname.
HybridFox Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Chilwell, Choudhury & Barnes part of our next class
PAULCFC Posted 15 October 2019 Posted 15 October 2019 Bourne are at Birstall on Saturday, would have loved to have gone but got the dart's.....Plastic!

danhaw Posted 16 October 2019 Posted 16 October 2019 I'm sure Whitlow is working at Mansfield now within their under 21's. He was at burton as a coach for a while before.
Aus Fox Posted 16 October 2019 Posted 16 October 2019 This could be my memory playing tricks on me or old Leicester bias, but, I’m pretty sure there was an England youth team who won the Euros with Joachim, Scholes, Beckham etc.. and Joachim was the player of the tournament and there was a right up about his potential being the best of that squad.
