Happy Fox Posted 3 November 2019 Share Posted 3 November 2019 https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1199196/Leicester-Newcastle-January-transfer-window-Habibou-Diallo-Premier-League Leicester City are bidding to become the first Premier League club to make a move for Metz hit man Habibou Diallo. The Foxes have been paying close attention to the Senegalese international, who has already scored seven goals this season. Diallo, 24, is the joint second-highest scorer in Ligue 1 this season and The Foxes have been impressed by the reports they have received. He is enjoying the best season of his career in the French top-flight following on from netting 26 times last term to win a place in the Ligue 2 team of the season. Diallo has come through the ranks at Metz, who are anchored to the foot of the Ligue 1 table despite his scoring exploits. Brendan Rodgers will have no problems in finding the £7million that Metz want before they let Diallo leave in January.

Happy Fox Posted 3 November 2019 Author Share Posted 3 November 2019 Looks a good player scored yesterday as well, now 8 goals for the season. £7m for a backup striker to Vardy isn’t a lot, and we usually find a gem in the French league so it’s about time for another one. 🤞

urban.spaceman Posted 3 November 2019 Share Posted 3 November 2019 Brace yourself for more articles like this for the next 3 months. He’s scored just under 50% of Metz goals this season and they sit in the relegation zone. £7m is virtually risk free these days so could be worth it. Transfer market says he can play on the left wing too.

Ligue 1 standard is about the same as Championship/ lower end premier league so for the money this type of signing wouldn’t be bad.

Gerard Posted 3 November 2019 Share Posted 3 November 2019 He got 26 goals & 6 assists in Ligue 2 the season before. Not as young as you would like at 24 which suggest he probably isn't top notch if it took him this long to going. He also has 2.5 years left on his contract so considering the price tag something doesn't quite add up.

StriderHiryu Posted 3 November 2019 Share Posted 3 November 2019 Doesn't look very impressive to me, but then again I'm no scout and have not seen him play in person.
Nicolo Barella Posted 3 November 2019 Share Posted 3 November 2019 To be honest I think we should stop trying to buy young promising strikers unless they're like 17 years old, at least until Vardy's game actually starts to deteriorate. Right now he's adapted his game brilliantly to his age and no striker we buy will get in ahead of him, and it's going to be like that for a while I think. Any money we throw at our second choice striker will inevitably seem wasteful and probably destroy or severely set back careers (Slimani, Musa etc). Get some old mercenary like de Jong at Sevilla and incentivise them with huge goal bonuses, using them as a stop gap, and keep scouting out for players like Arsenal's Martinelli.
