Koke Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Not only have we conceded the least in the league (8) but we also allow the least shot on target against us. Brighton had zero shots on target today. We do need reinforcement in Jan though. Everytime Evans goes down our fans go into panic mode.
Corky Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Don't see Benkovic going now, hopefully Evans won't be out for too long. We have an excellent first-team but lose a centre-back or Vardy and we will notice a difference.
TJB-fox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Just now, Corky said: Don't see Benkovic going now, hopefully Evans won't be out for too long. We have an excellent first-team but lose a centre-back or Vardy and we will notice a difference. He has cramp. He’ll be fine for the next game.
LC/FC Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Morgan is still going to be beneficial when teams start bombarding the box with crosses and shots, with backs to the wall last ditch bodies on line defending.. but ball playing cultured centre half he definitely is not. If Benkovic isn't good or fit enough then we do need a signing in Jan. Otherwise I'd rather have Ndidi in defence and Choudhury in midfield.
HybridFox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Will still have to navigate plenty of games depending how far we go in the cups so it's good we have the options there. They will be needed.
car1os Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 This article on Football365 is a few weeks old now but very insightful. We then spanked Southampton 9-0... https://www.football365.com/news/whisper-it-but-leicester-city-arent-a-good-attacking-side
Bourbon Fox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 I'll settle for top 3 and the FA cup Just writing the words feels ridiculous!
CosbehFox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Still a hugely underrated talent of this team

Seriously though I can't believe how much we have improved defensively. Never in my wildest dreams I'd have had us being the current best defense in the league.
somebum Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Let's not under estimate Kolo's influence here.

Hopefully he stays and slowly starts to get eased into the team. He was liked at Celtic.
Beechey Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Big 6 are getting ruined this season. Love it.

whoareyaaa Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 since Rodgers took over we haven't conceded more than 2 goals in a game, not bad.

Is Benkovic still injured ? just wondering why Big Wes is 3rd choice CB as he’s not the quickest atm ??
StriderHiryu Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Whilst our back 6 have been amazing, the reason why our defence is SO good, is because we defend aggressively as a TEAM. We have made the highest number of tackles in the league and look at the work that Vardy, Barnes, Perez, Maddison and Tielemans put in. They aren't shy to put their foot in and work hard for the team, and Rodgers mentioned that defensively Maddison has stats similar to Jordan Henderson, despite playing in a role that is much higher up the pitch at times. Perez had a chance before he scored where we pressed as a team, forced Brighton to play a sloppy pass backward (a pressing trap) and then Vardy and Perez sprung onto it in a flash. The team has been coached brilliantly in order to play like this, but the team clearly has great chemistry too. Week by week you can see that players seem to know where their teammates are in any given situation. Keep an eye on Jamie Vardy in particular at games, because he initiates the press and tells the other forwards when to push and where, and he's doing an amazing job at it. This means that all of a sudden we snap into a pressing trident as three players close the spaces, forcing other teams to make sub-optimal passes, which the rest of our team can deal with. Soyuncu also deserves massive praise, especially for a 23 year old. He is brilliant at reading the danger and has the pace to make it count, so one the few occasions where a punt goes through the pressing traps and midfield areas into a potential counter attack, he can mop it up quite easily. Having other fast players in Chilwell and Ricardo also helps for a similar reason. The overall balance in this team is truly superb. Exceptional jobs by the recruitment, academy and coaching staff because it's all come together to create an awesome side.
Aus Fox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Don’t want to go over the top or anything here, but starting to think Soyuncu is the single greatest centre back on the planet right now.

StanSP Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 Can't remember last time our defence was this good. Are they better than 15/16?!

urban fox Posted 23 November 2019 Posted 23 November 2019 All hail kolo. Immense in day as a player and now showing his mettle as a defensive coach. Evans was always a class player but he is playing some of the best football of his career, and when you consider what he won at Man Utd that is no mean feat. Caglar, obviously has the talent, but has come on leaps and bounds. We rally do have one of the best set ups all through the club at the minute from the owners, senior management, coaching and playing staff. The future is bright the future is blue and white
