True, but it's not like Rodgers can wave a wand and make Wes Morgan's passing Bonucci level for example, it makes sense to buy players who already fit our mould instead of gambling on them fitting it in the future.

Little old Lestah fighting for this guys signature with Dortmund... not bad eh

I thought Benkovic prospects looked good here after his spell at Celtic... what's even happened to him?

Rodgers just made a positive statement about him, check the Wigan match thread. He is potentially going out on loan.

Leicester's Merih Demiral bid rejected by Juventus

'Leicester have had a bid in excess of £25.5m for defender Merih Demiral rejected by Juventus, according to Sky in Italy.

The Italian champions are also reported to have turned down an offer of £34m from Borussia Dortmund for the 21-year-old.'

It still is.  He just has enough guys around him to cover for it now as long as we're not up against a team that can smother us with the press (like Man City or Liverpool).

It's a bit different coaching a 36 year old to coaching a 21 year old.

Disagree. He looks forward much more than he used to. Hes not a pirlo but hes made massive progress in this area.

Agreed on Ndidi. I was very critical of his passing ability but it’s come on leaps and bounds. He used to win the ball and give it back to the oppo. Not anymore! Brilliant coaching by Rodgers and the team.

The player will make a decision that arsenal are more likely then us to qualify over the next three seasons ..... plus the bigger wages ..... plus living in London .... plus playing for one of the worlds premier clubs ..... we do have allendale road to set against Bond Street .... might be a tight call for the lad! (Hopefully he doesn’t have a partner !)

on a serous note, arsenal need a first choice CB - we don’t.  Unless brendan is going to go to a back three regularly then arsenal are more attractive simply on a week to week playing basis forgetting all the other stuff ....

Bollox - send him a picture of Bradgate Park along with his contract and it’s in the bag

simply not true ..... globally big clubs don’t just disappear over a few years .....

Big name yes, but currently a relevant big club? They have a disinterested owner, a mixture of ageing and want to leave players, no defence to speak of. From the outside, very much a club in decline and not a particularly attractive option for a player who's already at a much bigger and better club. At least Leicester have a viable dream, brilliant owners, great manager and team spirit with an incumbent Turkish player who could vouch for all of this. I doubt we'd land him but see Arsenal currently as s bit of a rudderless joke.

Sky recon that Leicester are interested in Merih Demiral on loan from Juventus, Leicester's recruitment team have spoken to Caglar Soyuncu about his countryman. Makes sense.

Just read that, seems a great plan - Here is the full article (for anyone interested?)

Why would Juventus agree to loan him out when they are turning down big bids from us and Dortmund? This isnt a Tielemans type case, as Monaco was ready ro move him on. But Juve aren't exactly keen to sell Demiral. Its him who wants out.

Maybe it is his wages as only played 5 games?

I agree with the points you've made - all have some validity and Arsenal have been dreadfully underperforming for years now. But money talks - their wage structure still highly outweighs ours. Not that we're poor or anything, but it's always something we're going to struggle with a little in terms of bringing players from Europe's giants. All of it depends on the mentality of the player. If he wants to progress, Leicester is the place for him. If he wants to get an absolute whopper of a contract for his age, he'll join Arsenal.
