JB: I understand he has not progressed as well as City would have hoped, hence his absence from the first team this season. It’s a surprise, given how he impressed for Rodgers at Celtic in the first half of last season. It may be a case that the injury he suffered at the start of 2019, and then the knock he picked up in the summer, may have held him back. The plan is to send him out on loan - Derby have enquired - and that seems sensible to me. I’m not sure he will progress too much while playing for the Under-23s. We regularly pay loan fees for players, I believe we payed a loan fee last time when we had him for the season and Roberts cost us over £3m in loan fees the 2.5 years we had him. Not to mention others like Burke, Weah, etc. Very rarely nowadays do players get players on loan without paying a fee, even if it's in terms of penalties if players don't play the requisite number of games like Liverpool do with a lot of young players particularly.
