King Power Stadium Set For Spectacular Light Show

Recommended Posts

Matchday entertainment will be taken to a spectacular new level on Boxing Day with King Power Stadium’s first-ever light show to take place before the game with Liverpool.
King Power Stadium
- Spectacular pre-match light show to take place on Boxing Day
- Supporters asked to be in their seats by 7:45pm
- Light show will be the first-ever at King Power Stadium

Ahead of the players’ arrival, a combination of dazzling lights, stunning pyrotechnics and mesmerising montages will add a new dimension to the atmosphere King Power Stadium on what is always a special night in the festive footballing calendar.

The introduction of the new lighting system is the latest in a series of upgrades installed at King Power Stadium that aim to further enhance the matchday experience of Foxes fans in attendance, as well as improving the quality of the broadcast for a Premier League audience of billions.

The Foxes take on the Reds at 8pm on Boxing Day night, so supporters are kindly asked to be in their seats by 7:45pm to experience the full spectacle, as the lights, big screens, pyrotechnics and LED boards combine to make it an extra-special atmosphere inside King Power Stadium.

PLEASE NOTE: The pre-match entertainment will contain flashing lights and will last until the players line up for kick-off. Any supporters who suffer from light sensitivity may wish to consider leaving the stadium bowl during the show.

There will also be free beer or water available for Leicester City supporters with a ticket for the fixture, along with a host of other activities – including a choir, brass band and free t-shirt giveaways at half time.

All times GMT.

When fans moan they can’t see the pitch because of a tifo but the club pull off a light show which will work as a trigger for numerous health issues.

Stop that. Do you even like the club? You don't deserve these owners, what a disgrace you are. Go and support someone else ffs

Football has been fine for 150 years without lightshows. No need for it.

In your view, however some people will enjoy it!

There is no need for large screens, but once again people enjoy it!

Lots of people complaining about the lack of atmosphere, maybe this will help get the crowd going, who knows?

It's 2019 and we're explicitly telling people with health conditions to stay away from their seats until the game has kicked off. We're actually telling people to stay away so we can flash some lights.

That's an interesting take on it. What about news reports where they say 'this report contains flash photography'.

It's just a polite warning to advise on what's going to happen so anyone who may be affected by it has been warned in case their health issues may be affected.

Think of it this way. If the club didn't give the warning out, and someone with such health issues turns up and has a seizure or something because of the flashing lights, then what's your reaction? No doubt you'll have fans saying 'the club should have put a warning out to advise beforehand there was going to be flashing lights'.

I think the point is that the club works hard to be an inclusive, family club helping everyone access the game, regardless of disability, and yet here it is voluntarily choosing to isolate a number of fans who can't cope with the light sensitivity this will cause.

The point is not that they're giving the message, of course they have to do that, it's that they're having to give the message out in the first place tbh.

A TV channel can be turned over momentarily. People who are coming to this game, who might have done for years with their own routine may now need to abandon that, leave their seat and retreat to somewhere else in the last few seconds before kick off just so a light show can take place. The light show is not why they're there, it's totally unnecessary.

I'm not sure any pre-match entertainment at a football match which needs a disclaimer to prevent triggering of health problems is necessary, really.

Fair enough. I can see where you're coming from.
