Yep, and there were those calling for the thread to be closed down. Sheesh, no patience some people. Some good comes of everything if you're just prepared to wait. (and there's a relevant moral to that ;) )

You sly pun master you👏🏻

So, there's a 10 page thread (half) filled with people speculating what happened and offering alternative opinions, then a person who's job it is to find the answers offers his own opinions and suggests he's going to try and get the facts...gets shot down?

Tool. Doesn't he realise that the club aren't going to look on his stirring favourably? That it'll only serve to harm him in the long run?

Didn’t the bell piece learn anything from pissing Nigel Pearson off?

Why does the fine go towards there xmas pot🤦‍♂️

why not fine them a months wage and put it towards the vichai foundation or give it to the hospitals rather than contribute to another all expenses paid night out for millionaires

It's a player fine - they don't even have to pay it. It's a bit of fun. It would be totally illegal to fine them a month's wages and whoever did would find themselves in a tribunal pretty quickly.

Stringer wants to make as much of a story out of it as possible though. Might not endear him to Brendan. Or if he’s right Brendan knew it would become one and is ok with it. The former would be my hunch.

The subtext is clear as day. They missed a training session without prior permission therefore they were dropped from the match squad. As should be the case.

Due to personal reasons though which has been accepted by the club.

Personal reasons that the players may have asked to keep secret and Brendan has obliged.

If what @Abrasive fox says is true (and I see no reason why he'd lie or make it up) that one of the players in question wife is heavily pregnant then I can totally understand why he may have been late to training.

I think, as is normal now with any club or manager and their press conferences, things will get blown out of proportion. Stringer going on his gut instinct and making Rodgers out to be a bad person for 'choosing' to keep it secret doesn't help the situation. I get the holding to account stuff but it seems they (journalists/reporters) become blinded by their own egos and lose sight of what's going on. Too eager to create something out of nothing and it leads to situations like we have here in this thread and negative publicity.

Because it effects the team and

maybe to stop  them saying bugger it ill miss training and happily give  the fine to charity.

I really, really, really can't wait for the day Ian Stringer gets his comeuppance.

Lol why because he's doing his job?

If he (you! 🤣) was doing his job, he'd be looking to build up relationships in the club and using a bit of tact with his questioning instead of trying to sensationalise every little detail. Sure he'll get a few more quotes/clicks but this will be forgotten by the weekend and he will be frozen out again

Yes yes I'm Ian Stringer... :chant::dunno:

He does does/has built the relationship but he also has to be a journalist and sell stories, exactly like what most other journos do.

He's a shit stirring twelve year old boy who sells silly, sensationalist gossip and faux excitement as "entertainment." He's absolutely not a journalist, he's just TheTrueFox with a bigger audience.

He's the personification of the erosion of not just sports journalism but journalism on the whole in the 21st century.

He's the generic, weasly, "journalist" creep cliché stereotype from a TV drama.

He's wildly out of touch with every fan with a brain and only survives in a job because of the kind of idiots that ring in the phone in every week to hound Nacho or Perez (used to be Mahrez) to death for not having enough PaShUn, not running around enough and not being as white English as Marc Albrighton.

Me neither, he's just a massive bellend. His match commentary is as annoying as hell. basically I wish the BBC would bin him off.

He works for BBC Leicester - there’s no need to sell a story like journalist from rival organisations. Local radio is a bastion of the Reithian principles, keep it simple and avoid sensationalism

Does Stringer want to get banned from speaking to Brendan as well?
