Chairman of the Bored Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 Gutted I can't go to this. I have a prior engagement in Cambridge on the evening. However, I'm going to try a Likely Lads stunt, and see if I can get back to Leicester to watch the match 'live' on TV at about 1am. So don't bother calling me as my phone will be switched off .
st albans fox Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 Vards in the squad and should figure at some point (BR)
Kitchandro Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 Not looking forward to this. We should have battered them at home but it's like the occassion and expectation was too much. Going to be even harder at Villa Park. If we're not as up for it as they are it's curtains. No time for throwing ourselves on the floor looking for free kicks, we need to be strong in the tackle and win every 50/50. They're not just going to let us play.

Think if he started that first leg we win it.

Great to hear Vards will be able to contribute, even if it's a fresh pair of legs later on in the game. Interesting to hear Wes is out and it seems they aren't entirely sure what's wrong. He seems to be struggling with his fitness and I am concerned about relying on him as a backup these days... definite priority to bring someone in to replace him longer term.

StriderHiryu Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 From the press conference: Vardy? He’s in the squad. He’s worked very hard. We’ll give it another day and we’ll see if he can start. If you’re asking me if he’s 100 per cent, he might be 80 per cent. It’s about the further risk of injury, but I’m confident he will play some part. Mendy? Mendy is out, and Wes Morgan will be unavailable. Other players will come in. Wes didn’t feel great after the game at Brentford and he will be assessed. Dewsbury-Hall out on loan? We have a number of players who need to go out on loan. He’s 21, so he needs league football, he needs pressure football. Centre-backs? There’s nothing new to add. It will go into this week I’m sure. There’s work going on behind the scenes. It’s still a possibility. It’s always difficult to get the types of players that we want. There’s nothing to add [on Vestergaard]. Villa? It’s a semi-final and it’s a huge opportunity for us. We played well there so we will have confidence. We know it’s going to be tight. They’ve had a couple of good results that will give them confidence. You’ve got to stay calm. There’s lots of emotions around these games. I don’t really see it as someone as favourite. It’s well balanced, at 1-1 with no away goals. We’re now relaxing and concentrating on the game. Both teams in different places than first leg? We arrive in a better moment, and a lot of players were allowed to recover for the game tomorrow. Every player will be up for an occasion like this. We know the threat Villa have but we know our own qualities. Samatta? I’ve seen clips and he works hard. He’s a player we need to be aware of. First final for 20 years? Something tangible for how hard the players have worked. Don’t want to say it’s the chance of a lifetime because we want to be in more finals. Iheanacho? I’ve been delighted with him, whether he starts or comes off the bench, he makes an impact. I know he had a difficult period here, you sense the supporters are with him, they can see his qualities. It makes him a possibility to do well when he plays. In a winning squad, you have to be prepared to play the role. How to keep players calm? We’ve done some work around that. It’s about how you manage the pressure, because hopefully there’s going to be many more big occasions. You need to play with calmness and with the emotion. Experienced players important? They are all there to support each other. These occasions mean a lot, whether you are a young player or an older player. It’s my job to make sure the players anticipate the situations that could arise during the game. Do you think it will be a different game? There’s always a pressure in your home game to go and impose. Dean mentioned he needed more from his side with the ball. We would anticipate they would do more with the ball. We play the same way in every game. If we can play as well as we did, but take our chances, we stand a good chance. Message to fans? To be as loud as they have been this season. They were great in the league game there.
Benji Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 I'm sure I'm late to this discussion but you can buy a new player to play in the second leg of the semi final? Bit weird.

Bevan Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 I desperately want us to get to the final and win the cup but one thing slightly worries me. I’d hate to get to the final and get battered by Man City and then our confidence takes another huge hit. I’m probably just overthinking it

We should particularly keep track of him on corners and spot-kicks. He scored 32 goals last season, 10 from headers (plus 14 with his right foot and 8 with his left). He scored 3 headers in this season’s Champions League, including a bullet header against Liverpool.
KrefelderFox666 Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 The fact Villa have home advantage and the tie is evenly poised may put the pressure on them. They need to look to win the game. We can just concentrate on what we do best and punish them where possible. Confident we can get a result. Vardy can be thrown on in the second half or with 30 mins to go depending when we need him.

Katy Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 Trying very hard not to think about tomorrow until I really have to. Cacking. It.

People thought 15/16 was a once in a lifetime event, but 4 years later we are 3rd and one game away from Wembley. Not quite as good as that season, but it shows how far we've come. And our youngsters are getting better with every game... there's definitely chances for finals in other competitions!
lcfcsnow Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 I'm hoping Nyland starts in goal, Reina will have a point to prove to Rodgers as they didn't get on at Liverpool.
EastAnglianFox Posted 27 January 2020 Posted 27 January 2020 Have a feeling Wes may have to be announcing something sooner rather than later.

Since then they've lost to Wolves and drew at home to Palace. If we got to the final it would be another day and who knows?

We still have the FA Cup still to go for, which now we have won the premier league, is absolutely the holy grail for me. If we get to the Semi Final and Final of that, then i too will be bricking it!

Three games in a row now he’s either been injured early on or not felt right after. He looked in constant pain against Brentford I was wondering whether that was what had brought on the CB search more so than loaning out Benko.... I think people would try and fleece us if they knew our 3rd choice was going the way of a race horse with a broken leg.
