You Lot of Little Faith !!

Yes past windows we’ve waited quite late but there’s still a few weeks left of this one  I’m sure They have promised Brendan a pretty decent transfer package, but where we’ve been burnt before buying the odd Lemmon or 3 we’ve now learned our lesson so not only are they researching a few players and the press are making their minds up of who they think we’re going in for but they don’t want to over pay again and I don’t blame them ?!

I’m sure we’ll be pretty pleased in the next week or so with a new arrival or 3 who knows could be Suarez could be Someone we’ve never been linked with, talking before the end of last season Brendan admired our squad wasn’t big enough for Europe EPL & cup games so he’ll need to bring in a few he also said a few will go but the ones going have gone before any incomings and some are panicking that not long to go before the start of the season and we’ve had no new players in but we will see something happening soon I’m sure of that !

When would us having not spent the money from a transfer than that happened merely a few days ago alert anyone, especially the press?

Why is it alerting us the fans then?

We are a multi million pound European playing football club with the infrastructure rivalling the top 6 easily. It is frustrating that there are fans like you who keep harping on about sustainability when we are in a very serious predicament for our clubs future if we dont act. Our first choice left back has gone with no replacent and we need a CB/Winger/LB/Striker at the very least and urgently.

I hold my head in shame at posts like this.

You’d think we finished in the bottom 6 the way you are going on.

Just wondering how our infrastructure matches the top 6 exactly?

News flash... we are in a global pandemic, the club are going to lose out on huge sums in sponsorship, gate receipts etc. They are going to have to tread carefully.

I'll just go and shake the magic money tree just outside Kingpower stadium, that should do it!  It is funny how football fans like to spend other peoples money and just don't live in the real world, too much football manager methinks!  I am not going to want my club bankrupted, we've had that once and I don't want to see my club go through it again.  As for the infrastructure, it doesn't stop us selling a prize asset every year.  I would rather Leicester grow slowly than become a Leeds, look how long it took them to get back.

By the way go and hold your head in shame and maybe shake it a bit to get that old grey matter working.

In fairness, why have the club suddenly not got any money for transfers, if that's what's happening here?

Yeah I was out today in some random Nottingham village when I saw Brendan tucking into some scampi and chips, I thought I’d chance it and ask him why the duck he hadn’t bothered signing anyone and he matter of factly told me that we are so skint that he’s had to send the first team to muck out the owners stables in order to sell manure to raise funds. True story, ITK me.

Alerting us in what sense? Alarmed at lack of signings type alert? Generally we leave it late for better value I think. :dunno:

Because they haven’t got a clue how football works outside of FIFA?

So what have they been doing since january? Surely we should have a clear idea of who we want and any contingencies BEFORE the window opens.

I dont see how waiting until the end of the window means we will have to pay less...Surely it means the opposite?

The irony. Clubs get demoted or go bust when they don't take care of their squads appropriately. So, tell me that we aren't in trouble with our current sqaud and workload this year? If you think just a little harder then that grey you mention will be your hair.

Clubs get in trouble because the wage bill in the Prem league creates more pressure on clubs than the actual transfers, which can be deferred over several years.  We buy the 5 or 6 players we need, what about the wage bill that goes with that?  5 players at around roughly 60,000 a week is roughly 15 million + each year.  How much income does the stadium create each year?  It was around 15 million in 2019, so this is a financial headache for all football clubs who don't have a Shiekh or Russian oligarch.

I wonder if the club would rather bin this season and delay any proposed investment until next Summer.

Seems a bit drastic but I can totally see the sense in if they were to make such a decision

I'd imagine what we earn from being in the EL, assuming we make it out of the group stages at least will go some way to plugging the loss of matchday revenue from March through to the end of 2020.

Probably around £20-30m, but we also earnt an additional £30m for finishing 5th thsn we did the season before, not to mention we have sold Maguire for £80m and got at least another £5m for them getting top 4 and now £50m for Chilwell. There really ought to be enough room for manoeuvre and I think there will be, we're just going through one of these lulls that we go through as a club.

They've not learnt anything from the decision to not invest last January if so, could be a massive mistake.

We are in a strange situation, it’s not a normal summer. Many clubs may not wish to do any transfers, which could impact on lots of targets.

I suspect the club have money, but don't want to pay exorbitant transfer fees, Edouard for 40 mill, during the coronavirus pandemic is laughable.  Man city have screwed everything up by paying 40 million for Aké who was from a relegated club.

Until players we are allegedly interested in sign for someone else im not going to criticise anyone. It's not happening as quick as we like which is frustrating but the window doesn't close for weeks so players are in no rush. Especially if we are trying to sign players who are ere champions League quality, unfortunately they'll be in no rush to sign for us and will wait to see if anyone else comes in. Or forces us to up our wages offer.

International breaks are just going to make it even more difficult to get things done before start of the season.

Window closes without us doing reasonable business then yes I will join the criticism but until then I have fingers crossed we have something in the pipeline even if we have to get through the first couple of weeks.

You get about £12m for winning it, the EL brings in a pittance. Relatively speaking.

There is no way the club is skint after the money thats been pulled in from Maguire and Chilwell and as far as i’m aware the TV money is rolling in still also.

The theory I have at the minute is that the club are putting transfers under more scrutiny than before. Congers and Rodgers don’t have the best track record and now more than ever the club cant afford to get ripped off or take chances.

Best we’ll get is a CB and an LB but don’t expect them to cost north of 15-20m each.

This is the annoying thing. Not the hot thread but people will talk about it as if its true.

There's never an ounce of truth in what IndyKaila says yet he's believed like it's gospel.

People hear what they want to hear. Anything that backs their own beliefs.

As you’ll know I’m rarely serious on FT.

However I’ve been giving some serious consideration to what happens within the board room if Rodgers & Congers identify a series of targets that Top and Rudders hate the sound of?

Then why were they hired in the first place if what you say is the truth. Why would lhe club sabotage itself?

Because, admittedly, we've nothing better to do than check FoxesTalk, Twitter, and News Now about 1,646,325 times a day.

Just enjoy the ride people.

We've been through some absolutely dire times where signing crap players was celebrated.

We've got a young exciting squad that many other fans and clubs would be happy to have.

Just wait and see what happens. Only make sense to sign players who improve the squad.
