The EU haven't covered themselves in glory tonight have they?!

Not really, the eu have spent the last few years telling us we weren’t allowed to stick a border across the island of Ireland and then they almost do it themselves , we’ve got remainers demanding the borders are locked down, the brexiteers demanding we open everything up for free movement and member states of the eu, namely Germany, ordering their own vaccine and totally ignoring the demands of the capital of Europe, Brussels. It’s all going to go tits up, and if we want free holidays forever, Boris really needs to tap Greece up with the vaccine.

The MSM would be up in arms if we were behaving like this towards the EU though. They're acting shamefully at the moment and escaping criticism everywhere except the Murdoch papers.

I meant from the EU side. Nobody can afford to delay this.

This is a meltdown of pretty epic proportions from the EU. It's also very foolish of them to criticise the UK as it makes it easier for our government to claim it's a 'Brexit benefit'.

From their point of view, more the point is that 27 domestic Farages and Johnsons have a lot more ammo to use within their own countries to foment anti-EU sentiment and say "look what happens to countries who stay, look what happens to countries who leave".  And the 27 sets of domestic politicians will be blaming the EU for all they're worth, if only because they don't want to take the blame themselves.

They're acting like a right bunch of ***** here - can see us getting ****ed over with Pfizer export bans screwing up our second doses. Hope not! :fc:

Not sure what leverage we've got over them to stop this export ban, I can't imagine they're bothered by avoiding bad press or doing the morally right thing when there's millions of vaccine doses on the line. Maybe we'll just have to sack off new first doses of Pfizer and reserve what we've got for second doses or something.

Might be able to source more Pfizer from the US to maintain the programme . We are dealing with a co.not a country after all. As I understand it there is no shortage of product in the States and their issues concern Trump’s failure to order any vaccine and the lack of a coherent distribution plan. The symbolism 🖕to the EU would be powerful .

I feel quite annoyed that the EU seem to be framing this whole situation as if the UK are responsible for them not receiving these vaccines.

They've had an absolute shocker over this. And the Brexit-hating, democracy-denying FBPE mob on social media are struggling to defend their beloved EU.

The UK have played a blinder by not getting into a slanging match. Not often you can say Boris has got the moral high ground but certainly has here.

Glad he's keeping his mouth shut about it, mind.

Their 'whataboutery' seems to be the only defence they can offer. Bit like the Scottish Nationalists.

Not sure how the EU institution will recover from this. It would be laughable if it wasn't so painfully tragic costing lives. Shameful negligence.

The faux outrage and glaring hypocrisy is pretty funny I have to say. Certainly hasnt been handled well though.

Quite odd what some find funny. 'hasn't been handled well'?! Understatement of the century.

Macron's irresponsibility may turn France into a covid no-go area.

Whataboutery.

Yep.

What about a government who have handled this entire crisis with a seemingly singular lack of competence, up until they finally got the vaccine regimen right?

And what about a supra-governmental organisation that have handled this all incredibly poorly and egotistically in their efforts to appear tough and save face, while doing rather sterling work elsewhere?

This "two sides, pick one" bollocks is, well...bollocks.

Come off it - are you saying that allowing a Couple of minor politicians from Cyprus and Latvia to attempt to unilaterally impose a border in Ireland wasn’t a good idea lol?

How many times are you gonna make this quip?
Jeez

As long as people are reactionary, I guess. :dunno: So might be a fair few times.

Apologies if drawing attention to simplistic black-and-white thought consistently is wearing.
