You've hit the nail on the head, there. I can only think of Kompany, Aguero and KDB who may be more deserving, and those last two are debatable.

Paul Ince deciding Silva and Kompany don't deserve statues as players like Henry and Bergkamp don't have them outside Arsenal. Little does he realise Henry has had one for 9 years and Bergkamp for 6 years. Great bit of punditry there.

The comments on here about Silva not deserving a statue reconfirm this place as being littered with genuine simpletons. 

 

The guy is a legend for Man City, he's won a shed load of trophies and has been there for a decade. 

 

I just don't understand any other opinion on this one.

Did you just compare David Silva with Micheal Carrick? Straight in the badfootball opinions thread.
In terms of his influence he’s more Cantona than Carrick.

Isn't the real reason people are questioning this because normally these statues are reserved for home grown players or record scorers?

 

And it seems a bit odd to give it to a midfielder from Spain.

 

However he's been an ever present in one of the best midfields around for a decade and made well over 400 appearances!

 

Definitely worth a statue!!
