A lot of saints fans on their forum seem to be confident that the red card for Bednarek will be rescinded, but surely with VAR already checking it that can't be possible can it?

Be interesting to see what the FA do especially as Martial allegedly admitted it was a dive. Southamptons defines is down to the bare bones as it is

Martial will just deny he said anything. If he had any integrity he would have told Mike Dean straight away after getting up from his pathetic flop.

I haven't read the rest of the thread, so I don't know if anyone's said it, but I'm pretty sure our 9-0 is the record win for an away win of all time in the top flight, not just PL.

We did ours away from home

Against ten men

All in the span of 82 minutes

Man Utd at home

Against nine men

Needed 92 minutes to do it

Leicester > Man Utd

Ralph Hasenhuttl seemed a bit broken when they were interviewing him at the end.

Almost tearful.

If you think back to him collapsing to his knees in tears after the Liverpool game (since when they've been utter mince, by the way) you have to worry that it is all getting on top of him.

Hope he's OK.

Vardy got the 9th in the 94th minute. Also it's not a competition.

He was just sorry it got the other guy a red card .

Doubt he was sorry for the dive .

Just goes to show how ingrained it is for footballers to cheat, particularly at the higher levels of the game. To dive in a close game is one thing. To do it when 6-0 up shows it's just a natural reflex for most of these players.

Solksjaer is incredibly smug when they win isn't he.

Yeah I felt sorry for him when they were struggling, not now, he was a bit smug to be fair.

I just seen the Penalty decision on match of the day, no way and a Red as well, the Ref definitely needs a trip to specsavers.

If that pathetic fall, was a penalty. I'm all for winning, but to play act like that and have someone sent off is a disgrace.

I said at the time I fear that sign of emotion would hurt Saints in the longer term

Ryan Bertrand got sent off in the 12th minute.

Jankewitz the 1st minute.

Our feat was in shorter time and more impressive.

The whole idea behind VAR was that it would take the contention out the game but if anything it’s made it worse. We should still use VAR but only for when the referee misses violent conduct. anything else a manager can challenge with a limit of 3 challenges a match (you get your challenge back if it gets overturned).

What I find disturbingly worrying is that one VAR official got that penalty decision wrong (and Scott is utterly shite as it is), but it got referred to the on-field ref and they still didn't see it was wrong? They saw the same footage as us and determined Martial was fouled?

Do they not see him fall early? Do they not see Bednarek pull out of the challenge?

Very disappointing.

Might be because Mike Dean actually looked at a still image longer then actual video footage of the incident

If Martial has admitted to diving then isn’t that a ban for him or is that ruling no longer in force?

Just bin Var. I preferred the game how it was.

Agreed, I was all for VAR at the beginning obviously thought it would improve the game but it’s actually made it worse and make the officiating worse as it seems the majority of the time. they don’t bother reacting to anything as VAR will look at any issues and then they will decide the game seems to be reffed by replays and not actual onfield decisions

As somebody who fully supported VAR before the $hit$how we've seen since it started I now think it should be binned. NOT because it inherently can't work but because the referee association and FA (whoever else is in charge of this farce) are incapable of making it work. We've moaned (rightly imo) the lack of professionalism, ability of refereeing and overall incompetence at times in the PL/EL for years why would we suddenly expect them to actually get this right? Their decision making isn't good enough (ironically why I wanted VAR in the first place lol). So yeah, this is kind of on people like me who stupidly advocated it thinking they could handle it properly. You don't blame the child who knows no better you blame the adult.

I've said before they have to get rid of the lines and give the advantage to the striker. It won't be perfect, there will still be arguments (water is wet) but you limit the percentages of mistakes without this joke of measuring where somebody's arm starts. And in theory I stand by that idea. But I don't trust VAR/Referees to do even that properly (let alone without bias).

Was che Adams goal disallowed just because he wore a long sleeve top? As doesn't the line usually go to above their elbow rather than the wrist?

Var in principal should work, but the morons controlling it literally have no clue. How the hell have they managed to get technology designed to take controversy out of the game, and make the game more controversial than ever?
