Bazly Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 The are quite strict rules about clubs tapping up, approaching, players from another club held under contract to play for another club. The rules are: "if a club wants to procure the services of a player registered with another club, they must speak directly with that club and not to the player or his representatives. The player and his representatives will only be brought in for discussions with the potential purchasing club once the two clubs have agreed a fee." It seems that Manchester United have been using the England dressing room as a recruitment center. Seems the rules need to be added to to also include players acting on their clubs instruction.

Pointless. People will talk and deals get done and discussed constantly. You can't control communication and it's impossible to police properly. I'm sure we've done it plenty. 3

You can't stop players talking about their clubs and how good or bad they are. 1

We do it too, whats the point here... If you don't think it happens in football then you need to wake up.

Thought it was just speculation. But as others have said you can't stop players talking to their mates about stuff.

Yes, Madders is currently getting Grealish a couple of San Miguels and is having a word. But he's told Dele to get f*+@%d 😄 3
mozartfox Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Pep does it at the end of every game with us. Newspapers, News Now 24 and Sky Sources do it for the Clubs and their Agents. It is how it is.
teblin Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Happens it all work places, difficult to stop really
fazzyfox Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 The Maguire transfer had so much newspaper assistance I'm surprised they didn't ask for 10% of the fee after enabling daily dialogue between Solskjaer, Utd board, Maguire and his team. Now it's Chilwell. Chelsea aren't allowed to approach an under contract player yet via the press he knows they want him,he knows the length of contract on offer and the potential salary. Then there's the England dressing room angle. If it's going to happen let's get it done and ovr with, no repeat of Drinkwater leaving so late that we f***ed up the replacement and went half a season a man short (not that Silva really became a regular). 1
VLC86 Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Anyone who thinks this doesn’t happen in every club is very naive. 1
Grebfromgrebland Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Yeah Tapping up is an issue. We had Madison tapping up one of our youth players who we wanted to keep and convinced him that leaving us and going to play for Rangers is his best option. Unless he's a double agent and we actually did want him to leave?
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 You’d be extremely naive to think this didn’t go on
PaddyS Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 It's impossible to stop word getting to a player that a certain club is interested. I would bet most players are only a couple of phone calls away from someone in every single dressing room in Europe.
cruzFOX Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 If this is just noise to annoy and distract than lcdc should use a 3rd party source to spread false gossip to counter it. Something like 'LCFC rumored to complain about man utd illegal tapping up and notifies the Premier League and FA to investigate!' Its just muck spreading and we shouldn't stand for it. While we're at it lets throw some crap out there about Chillwell about to snub london clubs because there all big headed plonkers. 1
Finnegan Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 You've got to be extremely naive to think it doesn't happen basically constantly in football.
Unabomber Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Pretty sure this doesn’t happen as would not be fair on lower teams. Surprised so many think clubs would resort to such unethical methods.
jmono84 Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 I imagine they have banter about it but I’d like to think the players have at least some integrity and report it if they see what they believe is a serious attempt. The FA should come down on then like a ton of bricks but because I haven’t seen any reports I bet they don’t do anything. Someone must have tipped them off about it before.
ajthefox Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Pep's done it in front of the cameras on the bloody pitch
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 Ashley Cole did it in an interview on sky
Lambert09 Posted 2 August 2020 Posted 2 August 2020 If you think Madison would only think about signing for Man U because Lingard has told him to... then you need to give your head a wobble. Maguire has probably told him he'd fit in well, why wouldnt he. Hardly tapping up is it.
