And where does the money come from to pay the loans back?

It’s not a gift, KP loaned the money to LCFC, just like HSBC loan money to someone to buy their house.

Gate receipts, TV rights, player sales are our income and we use that for wages, running costs and to service any loans.

I'd give up Babs lol

Bringing this thread back on topic: the latest on Ounas...

https://www.90min.com/posts/leicester-city-eye-move-for-napoli-outcast-adam-ounas

TL;DR:

- We've offered to increase his wages significantly.

- We value him at a couple of mill in transfer fee below what Napoli do.

- Napoli want to use him as a makeweight for a player they want from Cagliari, but Cagliari won't be able to match our wages.

- Nice had an option to buy him for €25m, but didn't take it (not surprising, since Napoli value him at £12-15m).

I could totally see that argument if we quickly invested the money but here we are a couple of weeks later and we have only added one player who we wouldnt have actually needed to sign until Chilwell actually left.

It’s probably the case that we enquired about Tarky and Brooks, but we’re put off by the price tags. Chelsea have been working deals since last season. Ziyech and Werner were pretty much done before the end of last season, Ziyech obviously was. We have to be careful when approaching players, particularly now we probably don’t have the funding we ordinarily have, we probably won’t bid unless we’re almost certain it will go through. Puel being a child has slowed down negotiations for Fofana, but I still think we will sign him. Unfortunately, because of the way we have had to conduct our business patience will be needed.

We can all comment on how things are done, but the truth of it is, no one really knows how the club operates other than the information the public are privy too, Everything else is guess work.

...just going through the Youtube videos of this guy!!!

He looks like he will infuriate the daylights out of his team mates as well as supporters. Overly casual, very skillful but inconsistent. Should we pick him up it will be a very interesting season for him and Foxestalk.

Maybe this is why we are after him, as Chilwells true replacement

Not as a left back, obviously, but as the new scape goat

Why not

Brooks is overpriced (based on the numbers being trotted out), Ounas is meh for me (albeit admittedly based only on YT clips), while (as I had previously asserted on FT) Ikone is basically a left-footed version (maybe slightly better) of Gray.

I think that you highlight well what has gone wrong with our transfer dilemma this year. Some of our targets have been outrageously overpriced and, unlike Manchester United with Maguire, we are quite rightly unwilling or financially unable to go down that line or, other seemingly initial decent targets are a bit meh and probably wouldn't significantly be an improvement upon what we've got without ditching one of those players first.

Or perhaps we already made deals at a certain price area which we are trying to re negotiate down based on many things (e. covid crowd restrictions continuing, non CL qualification)

Yes, could be absolutely anything couldn't it. I think there's more to these things than many of us realise.

Course there is. Doesn’t take much working out to realise we’ve got a small budget to work with, due to all the previously mentioned factors. Bargains is what we’ll be looking for.

We’re desperate to get Slimani and Silva off the wage bill

Think if it's gonna be £12-15m it's worth taking the risk. Small outlay, fills out the squad for a bit and can do a decent job for us.

We need to not compare every left-footed Algerian winger to Ghezzal. Standard negative vibe comparing him to that one but not giving someone a chance before they've even kicked a ball for us.

How many of us didn't rate Mahrez when he signed, wondering who the fvck have we picked up here? Yes it was a smaller fee but we were dealing with those kinds of transfers for where we were at the time.

Considering the amounts some players go for these days, spending £12-15m on a winger in a position we need that could do well for us is worth doing...
