I don't want to mention the 'C word', but it has been reported that Congerton likes players that have something to prove as he see it, or, looking at it another way, players that have failed or stalled at previous clubs.  Both Under and Tah fit that bill.  Risky and kind of counter-intuitive.  There might well be a good reason that a player is struggling.

Castagne and perez as well.

Seems to be made of glass unfortunately

I guess his spell with Celtic has really screwed his future, I recall him being a big hit with Celtic when he was on loan there and now he seems so fragile...has Brendan messed Benko's career up at Celtic?

edit: my apologies, this thread is the wrong place for this.

Pre-Congerton we built a title winning first team of the unwanted, castaways and players from France worth taking a punt on.

That's a good point, but they also cost next to nothing or free.

Gerrard was pretty much made of glass at a similar age. He seemed to come reasonably good in the end.

For every Gerrard there's a Wilshere, Diaby, Gotze, Zouma etc

Let’s hope we avoid jack wilshire then 😂

Way to early to make that decision ... Lets give the lad a chance

Benko is quality just a damn shame he's one of them players that will never be able to shake off his injuries. Agree, that Celtic probably got the most out of him and returned him to us as damaged goods.

I don't doubt that he has potential in terms of ability, but if he's got these constant injuries they're very hard to shake

That probably does mean something compared to Fofana...

Was he in the squad for the last game?

On the bench?

No - first game of the season. Looks like he was involved in the friendly last week. I have a feeling this will be much easier to do than fofana as leverkusen are looking to sell 1 or 2 and hes lost his place there. Would imagine we'll fancy a loan to buy though.

How has Tah failed or stalled at Leverkusen?

Maybe we are in for both?! Tah on loan with Fofana permanent. Rodgers doesn’t fancy Benko by the looks of it and Big Wes shouldn’t be anywhere near the squad these days.

Sky sports app suggests he's on the bench
