Im not trying to antagonise... but rather than not understand... im more interested in why people care about it?

It seems to just be a modern version of "we won possesion though" :)

its irrelavant as the only statistics that matter are goals scored and conceded

Rather than explain it less succinctly, this video will explain it better.

Basically if you're fine with shots as a metric, you should be fine with xG because it's just shots with more context.

I genuinely don't understand why people still don't get it. I wonder if the term "expected goals" name puts people in Richard Keys mode and if it was called something else people would be more on board.

Goal probability or something probably would help. I think having non-whole number goals is too weird for some people to wrap their head around too.

A weird experience I had the other day.

It was chucking it down whilst I was delivering mail and parcels to a new build estate. I had noticed that Amazon had been round earlier and they had typically just dropped parcels on the doorsteps.

I got to one where there was a parcel on the door step getting soaking wet. I knocked, though I assumed no one was in, but a young woman came to the door, to my not total surprise.

I handed her her parcel and pointed out that Amazon had left a parcel on the doorstep and it was getting soaked. She replied that she'd sort it out in a bit and without thanks shut the door, with me thinking, "no, sort it out now. You're here, it's literally five seconds to pick it up and put it inside, dry, before it gets really wet!"

I finished the rest of the road and drove by 10 mins later and it was still there, much wetter.

Just bizarre.

These are the only stats i focus on... the rest is pretty meaningless (IMHO)

Was looking at this story in the Scotland section of The Times :

And then I saw this about the "Artist" involved:

I'm surprised at the restraint the neighbours are showing, I know a lot of places where Bonfire Night would have arrived a little early.

Well it's certainly 3D and I went "wow" when I saw it.

I'm all for outsider art but it's a fine line between not compromising your artistic integrity and just acting like a twat

I wish online ads were clever enough to realise when you've bought the thing you were looking at so you no longer need to see the ads.

I wish they were clever enough to know I scroll straight past them - always and in the case of YouTube, skip as soon as poss.

Got on a Jubilee line train at Finchley Road this evening and thought as it was pulling in "wow that carriage looks empty" and when I got on saw there was watery human excrement on the floor, and everyone had moved to either end of the carriage and opened the windows. Can only assume it was a Derby fan coming back from Millwall. One of the worst smells I've ever experienced.

I see that there are more TFL strikes coming up next month..

Sadiq Khan should've gone ages ago, as he seems heavily criticised.

Sure you weren't on the Bakerpoo line?
