Can I at least ask you why you bother ever posting a viewpoint or engaging in debate if thats your attitude?  It seems to me like you’re suggesting that dissenting views are not welcome which would make debate futile. I know people don’t like some of my views but none of my views are uncommon or unpopular in the wider world.

You’re the first to quote me with a scoffing comment but always seem to take this approach, particularly when asked for examples or evidence. Maybe you should consider just using a laughing emoji to my posts like the others who want their view heard but aren’t open to debate.

Here's why. Because you infer meaning from stuff I just haven't said, and you're very provocative and also excellent at avoiding the point I frequently make to you. It's telling I am afraid, and you're not the first person in my life (or indeed on this forum) with the ability to just do massive mental gymnastics or avoid salient points in conversation.

I will make a provocative post this time because I feel this situation warrants it. If you experience this with a lot of people have you considered that you do not know the difference between disagreement and ignorance. Again more than open for any examples (via PM mind to avoid continued thread derailment)

There you go - I just did not say that.

In your last post. You said: How can someone who prefers Trump say no need for name calling 🤣

Correct - I said someone who prefers Trump not someone who supports Trump's name calling 🤣

Notwithstanding his expressed position on abortion I find it odd that Christians feel able to support a person with his moral compass

The reduced sections in supermarkets have gone right downhill recently, gone are the days of picking up a big apple pie for less than 10p. Still bargains to be had but my god 2013-14 was a halcyon age for the yellow label

Once picked up a reduced cooked whole chicken for 26p from the old chicken counter at Tesco Beaumont Leys. Still dream about it to this day.

Back in the 90s when I lived alone I used to pop into Morrisons on the way home and the yellow sticker trolley determined what I had for dinner each night.

Boy did I live well but put over a stone on so had to sack it off.

When you get banned from a thread to do with the US elections when you've not really done or said anything different to people who are still posting on there...........

That's when you get a bit like :wes:

I think the policy is directly responsible for the housing crisis. Quality housing at a reasonable rent was the purpose of council housing. Now we have vast numbers of people having to pay much higher private rents and forced to claim housing benefit which goes to private landlords pockets.

Don't think the right to buy was the issue, it's helped plenty get onto the ladder who otherwise wouldn't have been able to. The money made from the sales however should have been ring fenced, and had additions to, building more housing stock.

Selling without replacing is the issue imo.

Trouble is there was no intention to replace. Central part of the policy

I think you're both right. Most of money received was ring-fenced - for the government. Councils only allowed to keep a  portion ie a very small amount given in early years discounts very high. Then in the 1980's two acts greatly reduced capacity for councils to build any social housing; it became very difficult to borrow to build housing. Firstly, there were expenditure limits, then a ban on using sales receipts for homes bought through RTB unless the Council was debt free. In 2012 there was a policy of a 1:1 replacement for properties  but it did not have to be like for like ie new social housing not needed. Research from 2 years ago showed only 5% of homes sold through RTB were replaced with similar social housing.

The government will reduce (from 21 Nov) the maximum discount someone can receive to £16.000 in some south-eastern areas, £24,000 for East Midlands (£38000 max in some locations   in south-east - highest across country ).

Will we ever see a time when people aren't blasting happy hardcore from their cars?

I hear it at least once a day from a passing car, kind of surprising as I thought it was starting to die out about 15 years ago, but it won't die. But even though far from my favourite genre, I strangely kind of hope it never dies.

Silly imo to close the US politics thread. It wasn't toxic or out of control.

Correct decision IMO.

Agree with Muzzy and the decision as it would have become toxic and out of control. If you've been here for long enough you'll know how it goes.
