I'm not keen on this growing belief on here that it's some sort of sacrilege to have an opinion on a teamsheet.

There is having an opinion and then there is some of the extreme nonsense we often see when teams are announced. Like today.

Think there are a couple of things at play that possibly aren't considered-

1) I think we're better as an underdog with that mentality. You've seen it with the crowd- we're far more likely to be vocal and encouraging when up against it, as though the team needs us more. When we're heavy favourites, we just expect it to happen naturally. If/ when it doesn't, we want to know why.

2) Maybe we're realistic enough to know that we won't be around at this level (I mean top five/ six) forever and really want to make the most of the opportunity, to create great memories before we drift away again. In terms of natural talent, this is the best overall in my time, and probably most other fans'. Let's not go with too many what ifs.

Its not entitlement to expect us to beat lesser opposition, and not embarrassing ourselves at home to the likes of Fulham and West Ham. Also, when you see a team sheet of 5 defenders against the Blades then people are allowed to be critical or moan.

Nobody was expecting top 4 this time last year but the way we fell off and bottled it was disgraceful and no amount of "big picture" will tell me otherwise.

Five defenders ?  Albrighton isn’t a defender in any game of football ..... the manager does not trust his defenders in a four without cags/wilf. We will find out next weekend if it’s either or both !

For anyone who pays attention, are matchday threads worse since no fans were allowed? Lots of people commenting who normally would be at the game, or necking their 7th pint during the pre match discussions.

I don’t think it helps that nobody is at the game and for two reasons:

1) Everybody is able to offer in the moment “analysis” of what’s going on. Often the opportunity to reflect on what you’ve seen before posting or talking to others about the game can be helpful in producing a more nuanced view.

2) Everybody is bored off their arses and going to the football, or even watching football on the TV with the energy of a full crowd, is ordinarily a release that we can’t get. Even if the game itself is boring, the build up to games you’re going to is exciting, there’s a sense of anticipation and a feeling of connectedness that at least provides something to take home even if it’s a drab game. I can’t be the only one who just turns on the TV 2 minutes before kick off and turns it off 2 minutes after full time. I used to build my Saturdays around the game, now it’s something that just happens (on a Sunday).

We might have seen lots of goals since lockdown but the football we’ve been watching (not just us but Leicester are one of the more extreme examples) is becoming increasingly risk averse with games being decided on technicalities rather than the usual ebb and flow we’re used to. VAR is providing a platform to rule out goals from open play and in their stead we’re seeing more penalties for things people didn’t even think were offences a few months ago.

With no fans the game is being increasingly packaged as television entertainment and when that entertainment is not forthcoming it can lead to frustration.

My personal view is that Rodgers is managing the season quite cleverly, reducing our intensity to allow us to cope with a big injury pile up and intense fixture list. But, combined with all the factors above, it makes our games - and particularly our contribution to them - often incredibly dull and frustrating.

So stepping back we’re having a fantastic season. A top half finish and a run to the latter stages of either the FA Cup or Europa League would be a really good result so for us to be too 4 and through the Europa group stages is great, especially with the injuries we’ve had. But I’ve found the majority of our games themselves hard to enjoy. The irrational side of the football fan is that having fun is (to many) more important than or just as important as winning. I’m not sure how much I’m really enjoying it.

I’m pretty fed up with posters who think this is a game of football manager or FIFA

none of you know if under or Barnes are carrying niggles.  perhaps rodgers decided that he would only use them if he was chasing the game.

we bossed the game ....we lacked a bit of creativity against their mid/low block but there was always a chance we would get a big chance ....and we did

we are missing two of the best full back/wing backs in the division .....maybe, just maybe we will be a better side when we have them playing ..... in addition, the manager is finding his way through the most congested season these players will ever be involved in having missed proper a pre season

but I guess a load of you know better ............

I'm out of rep points but this is so true.

You're right. The forum his zinging with positivity... esp re: 5 at the back... Kaspers dominance... set pieces and corners... defending corners... defensive set ups and an attack attack attack mentality

does a 12 hour round trip on a bus to watch a 0-0 draw with Plymouth count? :D

I said this the other day. Our expectations have raised since our title win and more so under Rodgers where we've produced some really impressive wins and broken many records.

In turn we no longer accept results where we lose against mid table teams as we expect to beat them whereas 5 years ago we'd just be disappointed. Success breeds expectation.

It shows we're heading in the right direction but also shows that this is a work in progress and it'll be tough to get to the elite although we've kept ourselves in touching distance over the last two seasons.

Have you seen how many times Fofana has been caught out of position or they have a spare man wide and we're caught out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan but to come in to the EPL at 19 is a big ask

On which subject, I had to be in Derby today for a work thing, and suddenly became aware that it might be prudent to remove my Leicester hat, saying to my colleague as i did so 'Don't really want to get my face smashed in'. At which point, some absolute mess with jogging pants half way down his legs confirmed that that had been his intention.

I'm glad I don't look all that beat-uppable.

Why would you get your face smashed in? Derby don't care about us, do they?

This is a largely spot on post. I think covidball totally changes the parameters.

Today's a very good example. At the game, we've been a bit shit for a lot of the game, but we've nicked it at the end and it's fantastic, it's a mad celebration and we end up having a belting time. Today you might enjoy it but not even a fraction as much as in the other scenario. You're probably naturally going to be nitpickier about things.

I've felt very little emotion this season. Didn't feel a lot today. Didn't feel much at Braga away despite the late flurry. Didn't feel much after Man City. Works both ways though - was barely bothered by West Ham, Liverpool, Fulham, Zorya away.

It's all just a bit nothingy to me. The whole season has a big asterisk by it. That isn't anyone at LCFC's fault either. I don't think I'll feel strongly about it until football is properly back.

Absolutely. Give me fans moaning about us when we're 4th in the Premier League any day.

Well, because some arseholes will find any difference, ANY difference as an excuse.

I think he is actually getting a bit tetchy, Geoff.  Did you hear his response to Stringer’s question about defending corners?  It was immediately “we can’t stop the cross on a corne, Ian”.  I think that was somewhat showing his frustration, to actually a legit question from Stringer about set piece defending.

To me it sounded like Stringer being put back in his idiot box. Brendan answered that straight out of the Nige 101

We have a squad of good players, there’s nothing entitled or wrong with expecting good players to put in consistently good performances, which they didn’t against Liverpool, Fulham, Zorya, villa and West Ham this season as well as most games last season after the restart.

It’s no wonder after the last 3 matches

It could’ve been 1draw against 3 pretty pony teams. Yes people talk about yesterdays era and how bad it was but let’s put it in perspective of the players we now have that have played.

Top goal scorer in the league last year, Youri outshining KDB for Belgium recently in his last few matches.

JM highly rated before his injury.

37m on Fofana.

victims of our own success.

but high possession square ball bashing is painful to watch when chances are rare
